i am only failing one class and mostly am just nervous about the future.... i would imagine this sort of thing happens to students all the time their first year of college. i am going to try as hard as i can now and stop going out at night.

Thousands upon thousands of doctors have had a poor GPA their first year of college. If the course you are failing is a prereq, by all means repeat it. If not, move on and forget about it...unless you're overall GPA is shaky, then certainly repeat it to bring up your overall GPA.

You're trying to get into med school, you go out at night, and you're worrying that you can't pass this class. Sounds like you will be repeating it, won't you?
Most pre med students are serious. You should at least try to be. Your classes may not count individually, but if you fail one, it will affect your GPA, which counts for med school.
