can I go to a regular doctor to be checked if I am fertile or do I have to see an obgyn?

How much would it cost me to get checked for fertility?

DO I have to be seen by one during my approximate fertile time in my cycle or can they determine it at any time

im pretty sure Im fertile. I had a pregnancy 7 years ago, but I never tried to get pregnant after that, so I calculated the times that I wasnt near ovulation so I would know I couldn't get pregnant.

Im ready to conceive now. Just gotta make sure im able to

you can check urself- there is a ovarian reserve test that checks how fertile u are. it cost about 20 pounds and you only have to produce a urine sample to conduct the test. the test is on the 3rd day of your cycle. the test has lines on it and it lets you know whether you should see your gp- GOOD LUCK BABE

If you try for a year to conceive without luck, they diagnose you as being infertile. However, it don't mean that they cannot help you have a child.

Go see an OB/GYN and they will run some initial bloodwork. It does not matter what time of the month you do this. Some insurance companies cover infertility testing, some don't. You'll have to check your policy. The bloodwork will give them a good idea how to treat you and what's going on. It could something as simple as a thyroid problem or not ovulating. Or it could go deeper and have issues with your tubes or ovaries.........this they would find out quite a bit further into the process.

At that time they should also send your partner in for a semen analysis to make sure that its not an issue with his sperm.

Try for a year before going in to see doc.........unless there is an issue already in place that you know will cause you difficulties conceiving...........such as irregular periods. Then make an appt after 6 months.

Good luck

It doesn't really matter which doctor you see ( general doctor or OB),both will refer you to a fertility specialist. Most insurance companies cover fertility issues but I am sure that certain treatments ( which may not be covered) are fairly expensive. You would probably go to the specialist for an initial visit and then you and the doctor would design a plan on what to do next so I would imagine that it doesn't matter when you schedule your visit. When you call to make an appt, they will tell you if you need to schedule it during a certain time.

I hope this helps,
M

I did go to a fertility specialist, but the only thing they could tell me was that I was in a Gray area! My OBGYN helped me the most, she advised me of all the things I could do to raise my odds of getting pregnant, even positioning. Your OBGYN should be able to give you a general idea and I would base my decision to go to a fertility specialist on their recommendation. Good Luck!

a reguler dr can tell you anything, expecailly if Goverment is paying them, its best you go to a private gyno who is going to take their time and treat you
