The electrical receptacle is on a plasterboard wall, the back of which is in a closet. I want to place another electrical recptacle in that closet, and would like to use the electrical connection that is already on the wall.

Thus, I would have 2 electrical receptacles back to back.

Can this be done? I'm fairly handy, and can do it myself with a little help from my friends.

Above are good answers. You may have to remove paneling in the closet then you see the back of the plug already installed. You need a Receptacle and the Receptacle Box (They usually have the two nails to mount them, but, look when you buy). Hammer and Screw Driver. 1-2 feet of wire. You need at least the same size wire that already there or larger if it free. Turn off the Electric to the box and check to see it really off. Pull out the installed Receptacle and you see where the Colors Go. Mount box, connect wire and mount everything back. You will need to cut a hole in the paneling for the new receptacle.

If this too hard there may be an easy way. Just drill a ½ hole maybe larger in the closet opposite the installed box. Have electric off and drill easy just for the hole so you not damage the already installed wires. With the Installed Receptacle pulled out (Do not disconnect the wires). Try fishing a small wire through the installed box and out your hole. IF, you can get it to do this you may be able to pull the new wire out the hole and use like an Exterior Receptacle box mounted to the wall. It may cost a little more. But, it save wall work if paneling too much trouble and the Box is encased so no shock hazard.

If that too hard. Forget the closet and buy a Six Plug Adapter that plugs into the installed receptacle and be sure to mount with the center screw to hold it in place.

Yes it can be done fairly easy. First shut off the power to the existing outlet!!!! Then just cut a hole in the wall of the closet the size of your new outlet box offset to the other side of the vertical framing member (stud) and drill a whole through the stud large enough for your wire. Then remove the face plate to your existing outlet. Remove the existing outlet and connect your new electrical wire to the opposite side of the outlet, then run it through the whole and into the new box that you have mounted on the stud. Next attach the new wires to th new outlet, mount in the box and attach the new cover plate. remount the existing outlet and cover plate, turn on the electricity and if everything is wired correctly you should have power to both outlets.

yes it can be done by just piggy backing the cable from the new receptacle into the connections of the existing.
Make sure you isolate the power first and call your local electrician if in doubt.

definite it relatively is achieved, however the amps drawn from the two shops can no longer exceed the breaker score that the unique outlet is tied to. in spite of the certainty that that's extremely actually DIY, get a approved electrician to certify it after that's in. it would fee 20 greenbacks, yet once you ever have a fireplace, the 1st factor your insurance company will do is blame your wiring. Having a approved electrician putting forward it replaced into splendid will shield you!

Yes. Go ahead and do it. They can be back to back if there is enough room or you could go over one stud.
