Ender's Game is a great book and one of my all time favorites. It's more science fiction than fantasy.
You might also try the Golden Compass trilogy, although I think that they are longer than a hundred pages. There is a movie starring Nicole Kidman coming out on the Golden Compass this December.
I assume he's probably read the Chronicles of Narnia. If not, those are also a great fantasy series and a must read for kids.

When I was nine, I also was such a bookworm :)
I loved reading the R.L. Stine series of Goosebumps stories and would sometimes read two in one night. I still have nearly the entire collection (minus two titles). As others have said, classics are a great idea -- some suggestions are titles like Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped or The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. There is also an older series of Time Life Books which are about folklore and mythological topics and they're called The Enchanted World series. I loved reading the stories in those books. Some of the titles were things like Ghosts, Night Creatures, Wizards and Witches, Fabled Lands, Dwarves, Giants, and Mythical Creatures. The illustrations and plates in these books are fabulous.

Mrs. Pigglewiggle. 3 books that are quite humorous and not that long or with inappropriate bits.
Eragon is supposed to be good as well, though I haven't tried it yet, that trilogy is a bit longer.
There is also a series that starts with "So You Want to Be a Wizard". by Diane Duane. There are 5 or so books in the series and well worth a try. Her other series should be kept until Adulthood, though. The main heros are a girl and boy who happen to find guides on how to be wizards.

When my daughter was 11 I was commenting on how fast she devoured novels. I said you should be reading the classics. She said, "Like Homer and Shakespear?" She had already read them.
I vote for the classics. Maybe a collection of Shakespear. But there's nothing wrong with Harry Potter either. :)

Try books by Louis Sachar or Gary Paulsen. I’d also recommend the book Hoot by Carol Hiaasen.

Tell him that you were in the book store the other day and boy did you see a lot of great books....and say wow I wish I were a kid today they have so much to pick from....and then say what books would you get if you had to pick ? Either that or take him into the book store and say that you have to look for something....and see what he goes for, that way you'll know for sure what he wants !!!!!
