This would be the female. Reasons for this would be the wage gap, unplanned pregnancies, divorce, supporting children, time taken off work for pregnancy and the lack of services by the government for single families especially those headed by women.
With the father groups clamouring for reduced child support many women who devoted their entire lives to being housekeepers and sahm's do not have the resources as far as work experience nor pension contributions to support the family.
Right wing groups claw away any chance for women to be independent by first insisting they stay home then disallowing them any financial or monetary funds if they must get out or are left in a marriage.
My mum, brought me up in the seventies to be financial independent and my father was quite adamant that I get a education to support not only myself but my children.
I have imparted that belief on them as well. We make our children watch those awful Disney shows that imply that some prince will rescue the girl and support and keep her happily ever after. Nonsense since most marriages are ending in divorce. My thoughts are educating our daughters and sons to the possible financial ramifications of love.
This question would be better posted in GWS where it can be debated.

I dont think its more gender related as it is on how they are raised. If a child is raised where they get everything they ask for and not have to do anything to get that then some kids when they grow up and enter into adult hood they think it should still be that way.
I was raised that if you wanted something that my parents felt I did not need then I had better do my chores and get the allowance for it and then if I wanted to spend my money on that then I could.Anymore I feel like I was raised in the dark ages.

I would say that normally that would be women. This is because women have a harder time getting the higher paying jobs, and sometimes get paid less than a man will for doing the exact same job.

However, in my household, it is just the opposite. I make more $ than hubby does, and I help to support his mother by paying some of her bills every month.
