My favorite word in the English language is "sycophant". This word made me laugh while I was watching a British comedy called "The Young Ones". A main character, Rick, gets mad at someone and yells out the word to him. I did not know at the time what the word meant, so I looked it up in the dictionary. The definition made me laugh (and think of people at work), and I began to like the pronunciation.
My least favorite word in the English language is "old". I have this fear of getting old (for several reasons - like nursing home old). It makes me sad when I see people in nursing homes who cannot do things and should be able to enjoy the later part of life. I also work with teenagers, so it reminds me that I should have taken advantage of lots of things when I was younger - I was a "good girl" and did not want to get in "trouble". It makes me feel a type of regret, and I realize that I cannot get time back. I would have done some things differently I suppose. I would not have taken time for granted. (and no, I am not a morose person, lol, I am actually fun =)... Sorry for the long-winded information, but I was on a roll.
This is actually a cool question. I can relate because I just did a project in school where my students actually had to identify their favorite word for either meaning or sound. It went over pretty well I think.

I like a lot of words for different reasons. Some for their melodious tone. Some for their connotations
But my least favorite is Can't. I believe it should be stricken from the English language. All things are possible if you want them bad enough.
