Yes, I live in the Chicago area and it gets darn cold here in the winter. Sometimes we have huge snow storms as well. We true Chicagoans are proud of our ability to handle the elements
Now, I had a friend who was used to hotter climates. She asked about how cold it got here, so I told her that in December, when the cold, cruel winds come howling down from northern Canada, it grabs Chicago in an icy death grip for January and February. I then mentioned that only the criminally insane go outside during those 2 months as the Polar Bears and Timber Wolves wander down in search of food.
Her reply was funny. Madre de Dios! hahahahhaahhaah Translates as Mother of God, from Spanish. LOL
We Chicagoans laugh at other cities and how they respond to snow or cold. I worked for one company and our main office was in Atlanta, Georgia, a southern, typically warm state for those who are not familiar with the US. Anyway, our Atlanta office heard that a rare snow storm was coming to Atlanta the next day. They were expecting an inch, one inch, of snow. So the employees of that office brought sleeping bags to work in case they could not get home. hahahahaha In Chicago we can get over a foot of snow easy in a storm and still drive in it without major area problems.

Yes, very cold here in Ontario, Canada.
We get snow but not as much as we used to.
The last few years its been mostly freezing rain and a lot of ice. I miss the snow. I remember when I was a kid and we had several feet of snow all winter long. The good old days!

Wisconsin here so yes and yes. But the last several winters have been pretty mild temperature wise and we haven't had a heckuva lot of snow. Like Naughty Nymph said when I was a kid I remember huge banks of snow. Not so much anymore.

Normally, yes, it does get cold, but rarely exceptionally cold. Last year we didn't get any snow (global warming?) and I couldn't wear my long black coat! I hope we do get it this year. Snow in Paris is nice only for the first few hours. It's beautiful to see the city in this snowflaky (?) atmosphere, but then everything gets grey and slippery.
It's nice and sunny right now, in case you want to know.

Yes, it gets cold, accompanied by beautiful white snow. However, the older I become, the less I appreciate this sight and temperature. Methinks it's time to emigrate to somewhere a bit more temperate.

It used to.
We have not had any decent snow since 92.
I'm hoping for a brass monkey freeze off this winter.
To many bugs are getting through to next year.
