i slapped my X cuz he called me the C word, yeah thats why he's my X now. But, I still am not sure how I feel about the situation... was that really really wrong? or just kinda wrong... of me to slap him... or was it alright, i mean no slap mark on him or anything, it didnt hurt him, but probably his ego.

You should never, ever strike someone unless you are fighting for your life. When you escalate a verbal altercation to a physical one, not only might you get your *** whipped, but you are setting yourself up for being arrested for assault, jailed, charged, convicted, fined, and ultimately sued. So keep your hands to yourself. It's the legal thing to do. It is also the classy thing to do.

No, it wasn't alright to slap your ex for calling you the C word. If you were in a situation where there was no other recourse, that would be different. You had the choice to turn and walk away, but instead you slapped him. Hitting is a form of physical abuse; physical abuse in many, if not all States in the US, is considered a felony.

Wow! NO it is never ok to slap anyone! In some states you could be arrested for assault! Why is it ok for a woman to hit someone but not a man to hit a woman? If he had hit you back, how would you have felt? So it would be more than a hurt ego then wouldn't it?

Although I think the C word is one of the most offensive terms someone can call a woman, it was not okay to hit him. Domestic violence swings both ways. This time maybe it was a slap, but then it escalates. Walk away and when things calm down try and talk about what is acceptable. If that doesn't work, he is your X, don't interact with him.

No. If someone calls you a nasty name respond back with words although that may escalate things and the best response may be to just walk away. Hitting is what third-graders do. You cannot assault someone simply because you don't like what they say to you. If someone physically attacks you then you have the right to defend yourself. A woman hitting a man is just as wrong as a man hitting a woman. If you smack someone first don't whine if they smack you back.

assault is assault...its always wrong to put your hands on another human being. Whether it hurt him or not. I dont know why women always use that as a justification for hitting a man...i hear that all the time.."well it didnt hurt him". it doesnt matter. Would you want some woman slapping your son or brother? And dont say if he deserved it. If someone puts their hands on you, i say defend yourself, but words? come on.

I know the first reaction is to lash out but what if his reaction to your slap was slap you back?
Sometimes a look of shock is more effective than a slap on the face.

Never ever put your hands on another human being unless you are defending yourself from imminent physical harm. It is never ok to slap someone for calling you a name. I am glad you dumped him however, he probably deserved it, and it will save both of you from having a physically abusive courtship.

You should never hit anyone. It can start a dangerous and very damaging thing. You should have pulled him aside and told him you did not under any terms like what he said at all. Tell he you wanted to left alone and that he should apologize to everyone who was there that said it.
Leave him alone until you feel better.
Never hit anyone. It is illegal. And never solves anything. You can only solve problems with words.
