I like that you added that Israel has universal health care. Israel also has legal abortions, Gays open in military, and one of the highest prostitution rates in the world (was on 60 minutes). Israel is supported by conservatives who are against these very same things in our country. We're all against prostitution, but conservatives make more of a point to be 'moral' than anything else. One of the major issues that conservative people have against Muslim countries is that they say women are suppressed. As a matter of fact, Iraq was, and still is a secular country. They have the highest graduate degree rate for women than any other in the middle east. There is hypocracy in the reasoning for support for Israel, and for the hate of Muslim nations. If people who make these claims would do a little research outside of fox news, and their other biased sources, then they would understand that it doesn't matter what the differences are between us and them. We have no business trying to change anyones government, nor can our government choose for us where our aid will be sent.

The Israel army openly accepts gays, which is something our great nation still has a problem with. I would suggest that if you asked the actual troops if they cared, you would find that they don't. It is the idiots sitting home watching Bill O'Reilly that don't support freedom for the rest of us to choose how we would like our money spent. The right will use any argument, no matter if it makes sense at all, to justify what they are doing with our reputation, with our spending, and what goes against their twisted idealogy of freedom. Nobody here is in Iraq or arganistan, obviously. I'd say that they have no right to make decisions for us based on lies fed to them by the GOP.

When will it begin to bother the republicans that their reps are bought out? That their gov is not for them, but for these interest groups.

Partly right but mostly wrong. The US may 'give' Israel X amount of cash, but the kicker is that all that moola has to be spent in the USA. In real life a drawing account is set up in a series of private banks and the government of Israel is then free to spend the money. Oddly, if you track down the entire story, 99% of all this cash goes directly to a small number of US defense contractors....a money shot that keeps these industries up and running. In fact, ALL foreign aid lands up in the coffers of one US industry or another. In a way its a form of government subsidy to favored US firms, it sure as hell isn't 'charity'. As far as Israel 'selling weapons', Israeli industry churns out tons of military equipment that it sells on the world market...along with South Africa, Brazil, England, France and a dozen other countries. All this is perfectly legal as long as the supplying country gets an 'end-user' certificate from the purchasing country. For instance, Nigeria buys all sorts of military hardware behind a perfectly legit end-user certificate but then 'black markets' their purchases all over the world... usually without ever taking possession. The rake off of this action for a few Nigerian thugs is massive and they're not the only ones doing it. True, Israel and the US and a lot of other folks should exercise a higher degree of due diligence, but we're talkin' billions of bucks here...as they say...follow the money!

Yes another example of the Israeli lobby deciding American politics.
Israel is not the strategic asset to the United States that many claim. Israel may have been a strategic asset during the Cold War, but it has become a growing liability now that the Cold War is over. Unconditional support for Israel has reinforced anti-Americanism around the world, helped fuel America's terrorism problem, and strained relations with other key allies in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The United States derives some tangible strategic benefits from its close security partnership with Israel, but it pays a high price for them. On balance, it is more of a liability than an asset.

The whole story of Israel being a peace loving little country surrounded by hostile sates is a lie. Israel is a super power backed by the worlds only hyper power. They are militaristic to an extend hardly ever seen in History apart from Nazi Germany and that's tragic.

Not to mention the Saudi arms deal worth 3.5 Billion - nearly half of the entire SCHIP increase - and over 50% of the foreign fighters in Iraq are Saudi.

Go figure.

I often wonder just what makes the liberal machine run. The figures get skewed every time you read about money and Israel.
We have SCHIP, but the expansion for more than 5 million was vetoed. The SCHIP program is in place! It's just too bad that adults are taking more advantage then children. And why aren't the parents signing these kids up if the health care for those above the poverty line need it so badly?

Do Liberals read the whole of anything or just the parts they don't like?

I don't get it!

It's not that there isn't money for SCHIP, it's that SCHIP is a rotten idea. Write that down somewhere so you don't forget.

China & Russia don't need to buy weapons from Israel. You may not have noticed, but they have plenty of weapons they've created on their own.

How can you post such twisted bullshit with a straight face? Just another fine example of typical leftist spin...

I don't understand the relevancy of comparing foreign aid to Israel to some domestic health care package.

If you think it is relevant, then please explain why you did not compare it to Egypt's foreign aid package, the second largest beneficiary of US foreign aid.

How nice they keep bombing Arab nuclear facilities for us.
They had the money for Schip. S chip was to be fully funded by an increase on cigarette taxes. No money out of the treasury for it, so that false argument won't float.
Now, about those arms for hostages deals we had a while back????
