Hi Third P.

Yes, I most definitely believe that problems can be solved through prayer. ASK:

Ask, and you shall receive;
Seek, and you shall find;
Knock and the door shall be opened.
The Bible, New Testament, Matthew 7:7

God will not answer our selfish prayers, such as to win the Lottery, etc. But He does listen to our sincere prayers; and He does answer them. They are not always in the exact way we expected; but if we pay attention, we will see that He has given us what we need.

God promises that He will not give us more than we can endure. I know that I sometimes feel as Mother Teresa did:

"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He wouldn't trust me so much."

I have always prayed for a way to help more people, spiritually. I have always enjoyed teaching Sunday School and volunteering at the church & elsewhere. I always felt, though, that I worked better privately, on a one-on-one basis. I wasn't sure how to go about that.

Some years ago, I became ill with a rare disease, a terminal one, far, far too young. I was, according to the doctors, supposed to leave this earth by 2 years ago. Well, I'm still here, pestering everyone.

It took me a long time to see that one of my lifelong prayers was answered, albeit in a way I would have preferred to be different. I have been bedridden for the past 3 years. People come to my home to talk to me. They end up talking about their needs & concerns — that's fine with me. It took me 2 of those years to realize that God HAD given me my ministry!

I minister to people from my bedside. I do not preach. I do not bring up the topic of religion — everyone else does! For some reason, they seem to feel I help them. Maybe they are helped through me, but not BY me.

"I myself do nothing. The Holy Spirit accomplishes all through me." William Blake (1757 - 1827)

That is what I believe. I am but a messenger of God. I will pray with people if they want. I will listen to their troubles. But I do not accomplish anything; I am but an instrument. I will say, though, that I do know that problems can be solved through prayer. I have seen it happen far too often for it to be called coincidence.

Many people pray. That does not mean there will be no problems on this earth. There always will be until the end of time. However, I do know that God has always been there for me, and has always answered my prayers. That doesn't mean that I have had an easy life, because I have not. However, without God's help, I do not know how I would have survived so much.

God does solve problems. One problem is that too many people want things, like winning lottery tickets, handed to them. They are not realistic. Also, there are insincere people who don't want to do any of the work.

God gives every bird its food; but He does not throw it into its nest.

Peace.

Yes, Problems can be solved through prayer. But for that your heart should be pure, you should know how to hear the voice of the cosmic consciousness. The answer to our prayer will not be according to the purpose of the universal mind. And we should be ready to accept the answer. Alas, we have no other way. Even if we donot agree with the answer the thing which was set by the universal mind will come to pass neither me nor can you stop it from happening. So problems can be solved, not always according to our liking .but according to the liking of the un iversal mind which gives the correct answer, That answer may not always solve our problems but some times that answer will make our problem worse. Be ready to accept it. Then it is better to pray to solve a problem other wise do not try prayer to solve a problem, it is not for the chicken hearted but for the lionhearted, ok?

I can see from many answers, what I've always understood. If one believes that prayer is effective, this gives them great comfort & hope. I respect, & even admire people who believe.
If our prayers aren't answered, it doesn't "necessarily" have to do with free will or cosmic consciousness. Belief & hope in prayer can help to "clear" our minds & spirits to solving our own problem, or in acceptance of the outcome. (Mike J)
I am, however, reminded of two incidents in which a mother's child was struck by a random bullet.
In one, the child died, & the mother said: "It was God's will."
In the other, the child survived, & the mother said: "It was God's will."
My only conclusion, is that whatever will be will be. Many prayers did not save a friend who died of cancer. I would respectfully ask: Was this God's will, or reality?
Prayer is never harmful.
Nor does it solve problems.

Restricting my answer to the concept of 'prayer' alone (not affirmations, focused intention/action, etc.), problems can be solved through prayer alone.

In its simplest meaning, prayer is the act of 'finally' acknowledging an issue as an actual problem and unconflictedly wanting a solution in the now. This is VERY rare for most people.

This internal synchronizing with authentic being, allows the solution to present itself in experience. Reality is allowed to shift because the ego - the conditioned identity which has CAUSED the problem - is overruled in the now. That does NOT mean the ego has been transcended in a practical way, only that temporarily its causality has been terminated.

Yes, I believe problems can be solved through prayer. More than once prayers have been answered - at the time others were praying for me. It's a case of having faith and giving God credit when things turn out for the better.

Yes in several ways. First, prayer creates changes inside of you that can produce clarity of thought and new insight into the problem you are attempting to solve. Sometimes prayer strengthens your own resolve deal with the problem. Second, if you pray for the assistance of God, and it is the will of God, then a number of important allies can come to your aide in resolving the problem including God, directly, the Blessed Mother, the Holy Spirit and the Saints and Doctors of the Church. You must remember that it is the will of God that the end result is consistent with our spiritual growth. Sometimes we are unable to see that the final resolution of the problem is the correct one even though this result may not be our first choice.

Hi Third P,
If direct questions are asked in prayer and somehow events later transpire that seem to solve the problem, it would be difficult not to at least consider the concept of 'my prayers have been answered!'
I 'talk' to God in prayer as if I was talking to you, even thought-wise, not always out loud but it is a way of focusing thoughts, acknowledging feelings, coming to terms with what's inside and through this can be found a sense of mental/emotional ease. Not everything can be solved through prayer but I also have a sense of 'acceptance' that if it's not meant to be for me, then it won't be, whether or not I ask for it in my prayers. And if it isn't for me, then that's because of a reason so we're not to be resentful. It's so much easier to 'accept'.

Prayers can help in some ways but it will not solve your problems. One still needs to think and act to solve any problem.

Yes of course. But don't forget words and action.

Prayer lines up your thoughts and beliefs. Words express these thougths and beliefs to others and actions starts moving the material mass in a way to compliment your thoughts, beliefs and words. This is the most effective way to use prayer and effect change.

With that said. I personally have seen some amazing things happen without any words or actions because of prayer.

I am to the point in life where every thougth and every belief is a prayer before God. Words are like a bell, you can not un-ring them.

The above process is the creative process of your life. Learn how to use it effectively.

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
B

When you pray, you communicate with God. You tell Him what is on your mind and in your heart. He knows all these things already, of course, but He wants you to turn to Him like a trusting child would turn to his own father.

God answers prayers in one of three ways: yes, no, and wait. He answers every prayer; it's just that He doesn't always give us the answer that we want.

If praying alone doesn't solve your problems (and, after all, God still expects us to do our fair share of the work!), it will, at least, help you to see His hand at work in your life.
