Did anyone watch the interview with Mike Huckabee last night? If so, what was your impression of Huckabee? Also, does anyone know where someone could watch it online if that someone was able neither to watch nor to tape it?

P.S. Here is a link to the transcript, if you're interested in what they talked about:

One thing I love (I saw it in the transcript) is that Huckabee is probably the only candidate who has recognized that our judges are stepping over the line with some of their rulings, esp. when they use international law. That is a bigger issue than some people realize, and makes me hope even more that he will become president!

jessicaisbeautiful: Huckabee is not pro-amnesty: He is for closing our borders and holding illegals accountable for their actions. No, he's not advocating the boot with a steel toe that many would like to see, but at least his not trying to give them a free ride. Besides, it'll probably take at least two terms just to get the borders sealed, and the illegals can be dealt w/through congress. As far as not listening to congress, he advocates rereading the constitution and abiding by our nation's laws. My question is, where would you get the idea that he WOULD'NT consult w/congress??

oops...somehow managed to submit that twice...mea culpa!

jessicaisbeautiful: I'm sorry, but the issues he voted on were not for 'amnesty' by my definition - if you consider anything other than kicking them all out amnesty, then yes, I see your point. I consider amnesty to be giving the illegals a free ride. Also, he doesn't come out and say that he wouldn't check with congress in the quote you provided - you cut off when the moderator (or whoever it was) asked the question a second time.
Not to say that you're wrong, but the area is not black and white, that's for sure.

OK, point made. However I HAVE done research on my candidate, and at the end of the day I think he's the best choice. Unfortunately there's no perfect candidate, so I'm willing to endure a couple danced-around answers, as he generally seems to be honset and open (aside from the quote you supplied, thnx)

I watched it, and thank you for the link to the transcript! I printed it out for future reference. I knew nothing about Huckabee and am impressed. I will keep my eye on this guy! I know that Glenn Beck airs Saturday evening at 7pm. He chooses a show to rerun from the week, maybe it will be this one.

I saw the interview and thought it was very good. Huckabee came across very well. In particular I was very pleased to hear his opinions on The Law of the Sea Treaty. If I were not a Ron Paul supporter, I would give serious consideration to Huckabee's candidacy.

I gotta say that I was impressed with Huckabee. I actually like him a lot. I just don't feel he's strong enough (maybe I mean assertive...not sure of the actual word I'm looking for to describe). I think he would make an awesome vice-president though. He's very balanced, great ideas, pleasant demeanor.

I didn't see the show. Sorry I missed it.
I have been a contributor to his campaign for four months now, and like almost everything he says.
My one reservation regarding Mike is his occasional comments about his religious faith. I have NOTHING against his personal religious convictions, in fact I consider them a character asset, but I think it may put off some voters who could think it is an issue. I think he would fare better if he acknowledged it, but avoided any appearance of making it a campaign issue.
The other item that gives me concern is his "Fair Tax Initiative". My reservations on that issue is: I don't see how it is applied in such a way that it WON'T increase taxes on the poor or near poverty income level portion of our society.
I went to his recommended web links and found no answer to my questions about that concern. The statement that the poor would benefit is made, but there is no explanation on HOW that would work.
I DO need an explanation for that issue.
I still support him over all other candidates of ANY party.

Stewart has some screws loose. he's amazingly weird and wonderful appearing. i attempted to observe him earlier, yet he rather isn't very relaxing, a humdrum practice. needless to say, i won't comprehend the way human beings watch Oprah, Dr. Phil and The View the two.

I didn't watch it but I like Huckabee - he's got class. That's something the democrats, and many of the Republicans, are seriously lacking.

Actually, he's not the only one who had a problem with the court process, Ron Paul made an extensive speech on Judicial review. As for Hucakbee, he seems like a genuine guy, but I can't vote for someone who is pushing for the same Bush agenda, who wouldn't ask Congress for approval to go to war with Iran and is pro amnesty.

EDIT: YOU NEED TO CHECK HIS VOTING RECORD THEN:

Before you just rely on what a candidate says actually go back and check the facts instead of accusing people who are giving you accurate information of being wrong.

Mike Huckabee
- Import farm workers from Mexico. (Sep 2001)
- Share costs of legal immigration between states & federal. (Feb 2001)
- Path to citizenship if illegals admit guilt & pay fine. (Jan 2007)
- Implement a farm labor system, based on the agreement between Canada and Mexico, which will provide an orderly, efficient way to import farm workers..

EDIT: In the last debate he said it so himself... you can't even bother to know what your candidate is advocating? Going to war without the consent of Congress is unconsitutional..

This is the transcript, from the last debate:
"Mr. Matthews: Around the...

(APPLAUSE)

Governor Huckabee, same question. Do you need Congress to approve such an action?

Mr. Huckabee: A president has to whatever is necessary to protect the American people. If we think Iran is building nuclear capacity that could be used against us in any way, including selling some of the nuclear capacity to some other terrorist group, then, yes, we have a right...

Mr. Matthews: Without going to Congress?

Mr. Huckabee: And I would do it in a heartbeat.

Mr. Matthews: Without going to Congress?"

Stop defending your candidate blindly and get your facts straight!

EDIT: Daewen, I understand your point, but you come across as just defending your candidate without looking at the facts...

First of all, this is def of amensty A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses.

Importing farm workers with our tax dollars? Giving illegals a pathway to citizenship is amnesty sweetheart, thats like saying everyone who crosses the border will be forgiven and allowed to live here.. sorry but I'm not buying that.. yes we can't just pack them up and send them away.. but an easy path to citizenship isn't exactly punishing them either

Second of all I posted the source of the transcript, first you deny he ever said that.. your claim is wrongyou can go back and read it.. he repeats the same thing, He would go to war without the consent of Congress, how is that abiding by the constituition?

Here it is again fully:
"Matthews: Gov. Huckabee, same question. Do you need Congress to approve such an action?

Huckabee: A president has to [do] whatever is necessary to protect the American people. If we think Iran is building nuclear capacity that could be used against us in any way, including selling some of the nuclear capacity to some other terrorist group, then, yes, we have a right ...

Matthews: Without going to Congress?

Huckabee: And I would do it in a heartbeat.

Matthews: Without going to Congress?

Huckabee: Well, if it's necessary to get it done because it's actionable right now, yes. If you have the time and the luxury of going to Congress, that's always better. But, Chris, the most important single thing is to make sure ...

Matthews: And if Congress says no, what do you do? ... If Congress says no, what do you do, Governor?

Huckabee: You do what's best for the American people and you suffer the consequences. But what you don't do is what you never do, is let the American people one day get hit with a nuclear device because you had politics going on in Washington, instead of the protection of the American people first. "

It's too bad Congress is full of our elected officials that are supposed to represent us... if he wanted to do what the American people want he would bother to get the consent of Congress first... Do you have any idea how dangerous this view is?

that being said I like Huckabee much better then Giuliani, McCain and Romney, but I don't overlook things, and you shouldn't either... The things I pointed out are fact, whether you chose to recognize them or not.. that's your choice..
