"In 2000, exit polling showed white women backed George W. Bush over Al Gore by 3 percentage points, but white men backed him by 27 percentage points. Four years later, with John F. Kerry carrying the Democratic banner, the margin was 26 points."

Without the Inner City 'Give me Free Stuff' Vote the Democrats could not get elected to anything and they know it.
If you are self reliant, why would you ever vote for a democrat?

Republicans give more to charity. I have about 50,000 links to support this.
Liberals are comapassionate with OTHER peoples money ONLY!

The Democrats are the party of the enablers. The party of victims. The party of higher taxes and more government. At least one section of society still wants personal freedoms and the opportunity to succeed with out being called evil or selfish. It gets old paying a higher amount and a higher percentage of your wages in taxes, and still being called selfish by the Democrats because they always want more. I honestly can't figure out why anyone ever votes Democrat.

I have NEVER been a supporter of the Democratic party. They are wrong on too many issues.
Being a white heterosexual male single male making $20,000/year at a job with health insurance, they don't care about me at all. Unless I want to join a union, they maybe they will care about me, but only on a socialist level.
Oh, and I am VERY against most unions. Don't get me wrong, unions in some areas, like mining, electrical workers, contruction, etc, have lead to many safety regulations, and some unions back in the day were able to end things like child labor. But for the most part, unions are not needed. Take civil service unions. They get good pay, they get tons of days off, they have good benefits. What exactly does a union do? Well, being in the union makes it very, very difficult to fire someone who is incompetent and simply unable or unwilling to do their job. Other unions, like the teacher's unions. What do they do? Nothing. Again, make it hard to fire a worthless teacher. My favorite is when teacher's strike, and of course, "it's all for the children". That's why they aren't in school. Contracts for the teachers? Hey, if someone isn't smart enough to negocitate their own pay and is not smart enough to walk away from a bad contract and not sign it, I DON'T WANT them teaching my neices.

I am self reliant.
I own an Electrical Contracting business.
I am a white male Democrat, and I can see how people can be frustrated with American politics.
Yet, I cannot for the life of me understand see how anyone can support the neoconservative Republicans. These people are like way out there.
JD is right. Read his post again.

Sorry, I'm a White man and I left the Republican Party.....I may come back if they grow a set of balls. But as long as POTUS keeps signing EO's and Directives that sacrifice our sovereignty, I will remain an Independent Conservative....

I am a white male. I live in rural Georgia, not the inner city. I am on no public assistance, so I don't want every thing to be free. I vote for Democrats. There your theory has been disproved.
But I will tell you why white, male, racist, bigots are turning away from the Democratic Party. They can't stand the thought of being equal to every one else who is not a white, male, racist, Biggot.

Not just white men...I have black friends that are finally opening their eyes to the dems and are going towards the republicans....funny how just a little information can open a persons eyes....I'm sorry to say that this nation has turned into a Jerry Springer society and pay little if no attention to whats going on in the world...they only get their news through tid bits of sound bits they hear from the liberal media...but if you just give them some information...print out statistics....point them to truthful websites....its amazing how their eyes open, and they start looking on their own for information....it takes a while, but it works.....one person at a time....and Conservatives, we had BETTER get busy informing people...08 is coming fast, and God help this country if hillary is elected because of the lib media hype on her....EXPOSE HER NOW!!!

Whenever a political party caters to principles that cover the masses, good principles dealing with family and religious values, in a time when values are eroding, people will vote for that party or person. In the beginning, President Bush stood for a lot of good things and many people (White and even Black) liked him and the things that he stood for!

I think that the answer is easy. White man are the ones who traditionally support all the social programs that the Democrats are in favor of, and they are tired of it. While the Republicans also support these programs, there is still a myth that they do it a little less.
People tend to vote their pocketbook, If there is a discrepancy between the voting blocks, it will usually boil down to money, who makes it, who spends it, and how much of your money you get to keep.

Your words:
If you are self reliant, why would you ever vote for a democrat?
My counter question:
If you are self reliant, and compassionate, why would you ever vote for a Republican?
Being 'compassionate' is not a weakness, as most white men tend to think.
