They do have a reverse gear and I have to admit I've rarely seen it used since I started watching in the early 90s.
Anyway, I found this just so people can have a read.

The answer is a catagorical NO, and to anyone that doesnt know watch the pit crew push the cars back into their garages its not to save fuel its because they cant reverse.

they could easily make them reverse but that would mean more weight to the car which is the last thing they want.

I bet Lewis wished he'd had a reverse gear the other week

Derek is spot on. i have seen a few cars reverse during my time watching F1. they may not use them in the pits, but they do get stuck in places they need to reverse out of sometimes. i have had this argument with a friend of mine and i would like to thank Derek for the info, i can finally win the argument

No, they can´t.
If you watch F1 racing you would notice that they push the cars in backwards and they probably could make them reverse but that would probably put more weight on the car.

Nope, 7 gears but no room for reverse since I doubt they'd need it during the race...

Yes, they can. The only reason I know this is because I saw Anthony Davidson use it when he was half in the kitty litter at the European GP.
