That's over twice as many as when Tom Lehrer wrote his song (in the 60s I think ) containing the words "nearly 3 billion hunks of well done steak"

It's rather sobering to realise the population has doubled in under 50 years

With a population that is growing exponentially, the actual number of people that the earth sustains is unknown, but I would guesstimate to be roughly 7 billion. With this unchecked growth this is the number one problem that faces mankind today.
