Surprised and delighted!
With such a huge following of Harry Potter, this is one of the first gay characters in mainstream literature, and it is a landmark event.
The only others I know of are in Alice Walker novels. (a friend of mine made me read "In the light of my father's smile")

And no, my yahoo name has nothing to do with harry potter and Slytherine.
I had a SIM community (back when I was addicted to the SIMs) that had no vowels in their names.
Slythyr kind of stuck with me.

I was a little suprised to find out that Dumbledoor was gay. I don't think that J.K Rowling should have even put it out there. There is nothing in the books that really suggests that his sexual preferance is directed towards men. I also think its absolutly crazy that everyone is up in arms about it. I think that everyone who says that it is un-Christian is a hypocrite because as a Christian you are supposed to love and accept everyone, fiction or otherwise.

Dumledore not dumbledoor... and yeah i was but it is kinda ridiculous to me i was LMAO when i saw it. i think its just another trick to bring attention to her books. i never liked rowling for speaking about characters as human beings with a real life. if she knew all the time that dumledore was gay, then why didnt she wrote it in the book? she said she was promoting tolerancy... well what kind of promoting is this?? it is not promoting that u write a book and then when its over u declare about one of the characters that he or she was gay...it will rather make straight people think that it is just a stupid "fashion" to be gay.

Okay....I'm confused, where did it say in the books (or was it somewhere else) that Dumbledore is gay?

That said, it doesn't matter for a variety of reasons. One being that he isn't real. The other being that it simply is irrelevant. If the character was gay then it was only one part of the whole character and obviously unimportant to the plot and character development.

No, I wasn't. After reading DH, I already made up my mind that he was gay. JKR confirming that just makes it more real. I honestly don't get what the big fuss is about.

I was surprised but I am not upset. I think it's interesting that she would do that. It was like a surprise because I just don't see Albus as being gay, but I think whatever lol.

Well honestly I didn't know he was. I guess I should have read all the books. It doesn't surprise me though. Homosexuals in many different cultures are regaurded as insightful people, not to mention they have the ability to see things more objectively.

Surprised and pleased... but only surprised because my gaydar doesn't work too well on fictional characters. Maybe if my gaydar extended into the books I read, it would have been more obvious. Wooooo Go Dumbledore!
