I'm running my PC right now in Safe mode with networking , as in ordinary mode it continually reboots itself without warning after after a random few minutes, could last 10 minutes or 20 or whatever before rebooting. You can understand how irritating this is. I had some virus trouble before but ironed out most of it, i have spyware doctor and registry doc and have run both in safe mode as well as ordinary mode to no avail. Is there anything i can do rather than a re-install to remedy this problem ?

First check that your CPU is not over heating . Make sure fans are running upto speed and are not choled with dust. Older fans which start to have worn bearings don't spin freely but may wobble slightly causing the blades to drag. This slows the fan down and may cause some noise. Since this happens gradually you may not notice the nosie

Second: A faulty power supply will also cause a PC shutdown. Testing a power supply requires test equipment like meters etc. Power supplies are cheap and simple enough to swap out with a new one. Just make sure you replace one with atleast the same or slightly larger wattage rating

Ur important OS files have been corrupted. So, re-install the entire O\S after a proper format or else the problem persists.
