In actuality rendition means both things.
1) A song or an interpretation of a song
2) The kidnapping and transportation of "suspects" to facilities not on US soil for interrogation into "alleged terrorist activities". This was a way for the US to appear NOT to have anything to do with torture although the CIA was helping to run these facilities.
The problem the US government has faced when their secret "prisons" came to light is that quite a few of the people who claimed they were kidnapped and tortured on our government's behalf over periods as long at 3 years end up being released and not charged. Now I don't think the government's behavior would leave them with a warm and fuzzy feeling. If the person had not been a terrorist before, we probably created one. Hatred is a powerful emotion. No one will accept " oops, my bad" after some of the techniques employed, such as water boarding, were used
You can't send people to a country such as Uzbekistan, a country notorious for its torturing of political prisoners, where the head of the nation is known as " The Boiler" and expect a good outcome.

The first two respondents are wrong, renditions are when our CIA lets suspects be brought to other country's where civil rights, human rights, right to an attorney are ignored and where torture is the rule of law.

Please see my link for further illustration of this injustice.

I don't believe so. A rendition is how someone does a song or another form of music. Has NOTHING to do with kidnapping and torture in faraway places.

I suppose the word might be applicable to the unfortunate people who were on the hijacked flights of 9-11. Kidnapping and torture were certainly "Rendered" upon them, (not to mention Murder).

A question for you: Do you think the USA has a right to defend itself from people who would go to such lengths to attack us? Do you also remember we were attacked with a WMD...? (Anthrax).

I suppose some of the others who answered your question with attacks on my country aren't Americans. Either way their answers seemed a bit short sighted. I suppose they suffer from myopic, tunnel vision.

Warm regards,
Douglas

if you are insinuating that the USA government condones torture of terrorists than i hope they do. a terrorist should have no rights at all. they are not even worth the human flesh that they are wrapped in.
