I have used big coats with inside pockets, my huge purse, back packs, and plain and simply just carried it in depending on if the kid working looks preoccupied...I can't stand the lack of variety for food and drinks...or the prices. Have you people ever done this? What's your fav. food to take in?

for me arby's

I have smuggled in soda, candy, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, chicken. I like the take in the kind of things that, when you open them up, a devilish aroma wafts its way around the theater causing others to stop and ponder their meager, yet expensive concession foods.

I do this all the time! I have brought in candy, chips, soda's, snacks, and even a sub. This has become harder to do, because most theaters now have a sign prohibiting backpacks and bags. They say because of security issues, but I know it's really because they want to limit people bringing in their own food.
Ticket prices are now up to $9! My fiancee and I just went to the movies. I had won a couple of free tickets on-line thankfully. He wanted the large popcorn. I don't eat the stuff, and that was $6! I couldn't believe it. I ordered and returned a disgusting hot chocolate for an unbelievable $3.50. I am definitely back to sneaking our snacks in. I think they could discourage this and make way more profit if they offered the refreshments at a reasonable price. I cannot even imagine how those with large families afford it. I prefer to go to the drive-in, because the prices are more affordable, and you get to be in the comfort of your own car. Also we get to bring our dog with us, so he is not sitting home lonely.

I think jus about everyone has at one point or another because the prices of consessions and tickets are so high. We have a few theaters in Fort Worth now that make having to do that unnecessary finally. They're called Movie Tavern and they sell food like pizza, burgers, as well as the usual hot dog, popcorn and sodas, but even sell beer. They have a wait staff so you can go directly to your seats and place an order from there. And tickets are only $6 for adults. If you don't have one in your city, someone might check into the franchise. It has got to be a money maker!

There is no law that says you can't bring your own food and drink. I've looked for signs that say "no food or drink from outside allowed" and I never seen one. I also asked someone that I know who works in the cinemas and he said they have to overlook it when they know that food is in the bags because they do not have the right to search people's bags, but they do not encourage it. I always take my 4 grandchildren to the show and we go to CVS pharmacy and buy the candy, chips, soda, etc... put it in a backpack and I use it as a pocket book; then we munch, munch, munch through the whole movie. No one person that I know of can afford to buy 5 tickets and snacks for 5 people at those cinemas. Their prices are outrageous!

I used to clean theaters at a movie theater, and we would often find fast food wrappers and drink containers on the floor in the theater.. I imagine that a lot of people who sneak that stuff in don't just throw the wrappers on the floor because they want to "cover their tracks". personally, I don't blame people for sneaking stuff in.. often you want something to eat other than popcorn, and their prices are a ripoff.. if they want people to not sneak stuff in, then they should offer more competitive prices in their concession stand so that people would rather purchase the stuff there than sneak it in..

Update: Just tonight I was curious what they'd do if I brought a drink in from Quiznos. I didn't make any attempt whatsoever to hide it. I walked up to the counter and placed my drink on the counter while I ordered tickets. Then I went up to the concession stand and placed it on the counter while I ordered popcorn. I didn't order a drink since I already had one. Some people looked at it, but nobody said a word to me. :)

yep, lol! I love to get rasinets to eat at the movie theater, but they're like 4.00 per box! So I like to go get one from wal-mart or something for 1.00 lol. My friends and I like to bring in stuff, the price to go see a movie is high enough, so i think they should lower the price for snacks. (also because I'm short, I've gotten in with a childs price ticket when I'm acually older, it saves money, lol)

Another reason why kids are continuously fatter. Eat junk at a movie theater. I have bought sensible snacks for myself.
