Good judgment comes experience, experience comes from bad judgement.
From an evolutionary point of view, we generally remember bad things more profoundly as it helps us learn and avoid them in future.. Such as a kid getting burnt by hot water.

Probably cause any traumatic event just stays in your mind and you can remember what you were doing at the time like Diana's death, I remember what i was doing that day. It may also have to do with the media coverage how they keep going on about it so you dont forget.

i don't really remember the berlin wall falling either, but think that has more to do with the fat that i was too young to be interested / realise the significance of it.
