Are you a liberal who is pro-life? Are you a conservative who wants gun control?

I "typically" fall under liberal, but don't agree with all of the typical points of view. I was just curious if there are other liberals like myself, or if any conservatives run into similar issues.

The problem starts with trying to label your thinking process.

Why does anyone have to be libreal or conservative? You believe the way you do. So what? There isn't any advantage in belonging to a labeled group, so quit it.

I think the same goes for Republicans and Democrats. If you are truly "American" then there are good points on both sides that you should be able to support.

Where in the world did we get the idea that our political process had to be "either or" the two parties? Scrap the two party system and may the best candidate win.

g-day!

I honestly believe that pure "liberals" or pure "conservatives" lie to themselves about what they actually believe. They are an artificial concoction.

I consider myself a Republican Conservative. I believe in fiscal responsibility, a strong military, and individual responsibility--to a point. I think everyone should have the RIGHT to quality health care that they can afford. Does this sound like a plug for national health care? Yes, it is. Further, I think education--including university education--should be federally funded. Taxes? They should be as low as possible, but everyone should pay their share.

Did I support the GWB tax cut? Hell no! We had a huge national debt then, which is bigger now due to Conservative Republican spending. Does this make sense? How in the name of good common sense did a Conservative-Republican Congress with a Conservative Republican Whitehouse tack another $3.8 trillion dollars on our national debt? Please don't say, "The Global War on Terror!" According to the General Accounting Office, that will have cost $510 billion (less than one-seventh of the national debt increase) through the end of this year.

I used to consider myself a conservative with "some" liberal leanings...but the more the libs moved towards the radical left, I moved towards the radical right...I used to see no problem with something like "some" gun control...Now I am of the opinion that all the gun control laws do is keep the good guns out of MY hands while the criminals can go downtown and buy any automatic they want from the black market!!..so what good did the law do??.....criminals don't pay attention to laws..that's their job..........another is abortion...I used to see no problem until the libs in America have pushed abortion so much that many use it as a form of birth control!!...NOW I'm totally against abortion!!....I"ve come to realize also that that fetus IS a human and IS being murdered when aborted....there are other things I could tell you but the bottom line is the radical left is pushing MANY people to the right..I know you only hear of people converting to the left in the media, but trust me, there are MANY moving towards the right that are never reported in the news....don't fool yourself.

Conservative and liberal are associated with the extremes of both sides. This is more news worthy so many form the opinion that everyone of the group must be an extremist. The truth is most people fall into the Median as you do. Its just that the fact is not particularly interesting so it isn't often mentioned.
Real extremist are rare. People who fanatically support the most right or left leaning positions are the exception not the rule.

No, I don't agree with my party affiliation.
I'm just a malcontent.

I vote republican a lot but I end up regretting it later because republicans lie a lot. lol
I voted democrat for a while too, but you know something?
Democrats lie a lot

I thought about voting independent or green party but I did not want to waste my vote. Funny thing is I remember those candidates always lied a lot.

I'm pro-life, and I don't want gun control. I also want the budget balanced and the war in Iraq resolved and social security funded and affordable health care.

But wow, I vote for the candidate who runs on a platform that most closely agrees with what I expect and they prostitute themselves on Capitol Hill for power and money to the Special Interest Groups.

Good question. I don't even know what my political lean is anymore. I used to say middle of the road, but there is no happy medium anymore

Good luck

Sure, and there's also no reason to hold an extreme position on either issue. People can be in favor of some limits on gun ownership and additional limits on abortion without going all the way to prohibition. Liberalism and conservatism are not absolutist dogma, there's a continuum of political opinions from left to right on many issues, and people can be more liberal on one issue and more conservative on another.

I'm a conservative who's for gun control, agianst the Patriot Act (I believe it goes against republican ideals),

and I'm semi against Republican global warming policy, such as, I agree with my fellow Republicans that there is significant research to raise significant doubt over whether or not humans are the cause of global warming, but until it can be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that humans aren't the cause we need to launch a preemptuve strike against global warming.

I'm pretty darn liberal but still have a Con. stance on an issue or two.

I'm Pro-Gun, Anti-tobacco tax, and don't think you should get a Welfare raise by having more kids (Clinton nixed that one already)

Yes Nightie I have been a progressive supporter for years now and find that in order to get elected, my party (Australian Labor Party) is moving so far to the right that I am feeling disenfranchised. All life is change?
