America is NOT attacking Iraq...we are HELPING Iraq to force the insurgents out so the people can live in peace and without fear of more terrorism as they endured under Hussain

Well there are many reason why Americans attacked Iraq
1. Oil Rich nation - Iraq
2. Oil hungry country - USA
3. Their own puppet has turned against them(Mr.Saddam Hussain was made the president of Iraq with the help of Americans in order to counter the then USSR during the time of cold war.....Osama was also a one time man friday of America)
4. USA wanted to control the oil market n thereby control is prices( thats why its interested in Iraq, Iran, Cuba n Venezuala)
5. USA is the largest consumer of fossil fuel(right now i guess after China).
6. Once it does control the oil market USA will get more richer to fuel further such attacks on oil rich countries run by ex- US puppets.
7. This one is a more hidden objective ....It can create bases that are close to Russia, India & China (There is a possibility of these 3 countries forming an alliance against the US). therefore they can increase their rapid strike capability

There are still lot more reasons......but the point i want to highlight over here is that even though Mr.Saddam Hussain was a tyrant, a dictator he was a pro development ruler, administrator...After the two Gulf wars he restored Iraq's food , water n power supplies to all parts of Iraq.......USA or the currently installed puppet government has not been able to do that in Iraq

Money, oil,a strategic foothold in the Middle East and faw his daddi and dem nice Israeli folks.

Maxx P: Iraq had nothing to do with the threat of terrorism. It would not have been in Saddam's interest to empower the likes of Al Quaeda lest they overthrow him.America left the doors open when they invaded (wonderful planning Bushy!)and let them flood the place.
America likes to give the impression it is a fine upstanding moral nation when in reality all the good intentions of the constitution are long gone as America seeks to cement its place at the top by subjugating the rest of us.It has been working on this insidiously for years.Bush doesn't even bother being subtle now and the cat's out of the bag.The world sees America as a huge, selfish, cruel and deceitful bully.Yes indeed ,look at Americas history. It nuked a country that had already said it was surrendering, twice! On that day you took your place as the major tyrant on the planet.

The US attacked Iraq in 1991 because it attacked Kuwait; a US ally under US protection. We had a cease fire with Iraq. Iraq did not abide be the terms of the cease fire so we resumed hostilities.

Despite the fact that we did not have to legally we went to the UN 14 times to plead our case. Iraq continued to violate the cease fire agreement.

I addition to the cease fire; the US believed along with Massad, SAS, Russian intelligence and everyone else that Saddam was creating WMD's. We have not discovered any WMDs but I am still not convinced they were not moved. Various military equipment was found buried in the Desert, it is not a long shot to say that WMD's could still be hidden in a large country like Iraq.

The US never contended that Iraq was directly part of the 911 attack. Invading Iraq was part of an overall war on terror. Iraq was a major sponsor of terrorist activities.

The US was justified in resuming hostilities against Iraq. Was should have kept going and eliminated other countries involved in terrorism but there some politicians feel that their political power is more important.

Most people can see for themselves all the bombing and murder of innocent people, alot of teenagers and kids too in market places or on buses going to a Doctor by suicide bombers. Where is the respect for their own people of human life??. Iraq has groups of people who hate the other group, but unlike most countries, hating someone just in your head and not in your deeds isn't enough, you must blow them up too and kill them too seems to be their way of life. America is a hopeful country. We were formed on the blind faith that differences in all of us was a strength and not a weakness and that our lives were enhanced by the diferrences in others as that is the spice of life and the nourishment from which we all grow emotionally to maturity, we don't tolerate for long killing someone different or bullying others.Iraq lived in tourmoil before us and now that the suffering people have a free voice I am afraid they are showing their wrath in the same way they had it imposed on them. I won't take sides. I like Iraqi people and I pray for them everyday that they will learn tolerance and the spirit of cooperation. American's are involved because mostly of 911 being a wake up call that the hate for humanity from the middle east wanted our attention. Well they have gotten it just like the Japaneese got our attention bombing Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th 1941. The middle east needs to read U.S.A. military history before they try to take us on. Also Iraq has become too safe a haven for terrorists. And now the terrorists are getting surprized. Americans are sneaky and underhanded too and we never give up. There are too many options beside oil for transportaion if we really were being cut off. But that is another issue.

I seriously doubt that anyone on Yahoo Answers is going to be able to give you an informed, honest answer to this. Mostly what you're going to get is a bunch of people that THINK they know "the real reason" when, in fact, they are just guessing and applying their own biases and opinions.

For whatever reasons, Iraq under Saddam Hussein's rule was a threat to the interests of the American government.

Guilt because of the fact they permit the Iraqi human beings down, via no longer doing away with Saddam in the 1st Gulf warfare. yet lower back our governments made an entire mess of it. gained the warfare, yet had no longer something in place to rebuild the rustic. Insurgents and terrorists entered to do their worst. in the top, united states and Britain will bypass away and allow Iraq p.c.. up the mess.

Because they were conned into it by supporters of Israel who work in the White House as er "advisers" to G W Bush. There are about 35 to 40 of them. Wolfowitz was one but he conned Bush into giving him a job as head of the World Bank.

The World Bank , unlike the White House do not tolerate corruption so he got the sack.

At least a Yahoo Answers spell-check on Wolfowitz gets it right---try it

Weapons of mass destruction - some 250,000 tons were moved in the days preceeding the attack, when we were held up 'proceedurally'.

They went across the border into Syria.

Yeah, they faked the World Trade Center deal - it was all Hollywood special effects.
