I thought I could dig to Australia too!
I believe this is the way that a lot of young children are taught about geography because the concept that the world is round is too complex for them. I thought it was Australia because I was always told that Australia was way down... so in China it was a different time of day, but in Australia it was a different time of year. At that age, qualitative processing isn't something children do, but we are capable of modest quantitative processing... my decision was that the one that was most different was the farthest away.

Hi. Absoluately and it was certainly fun as a child trying. When one of our four shelties are digging in the back yard, we always say
"he's digging his way to China." Now if we say "Copper, dig to China...." no matter if he is inside the house or out in the yard, he automatically starts digging! It is so fun to watch and he is so adorable.
Thanks for the terrific reminder how the simply things in life, bring us so much pleasure!
Here's a star for you and your question!
Blessings,
Patti

Yes. I was a gullible little sap.
However, scientists today believe that there is an entire layer of diamond about 100 miles deep. The kimberlite pipes poked through eons ago and dragged the stones up with them.
Lets get digging...

Over here, we were told it was Spain My Lady.
Incidentally If you were to dig a vertical hole from almost anywhere on the US mainland you would end up in the Indian Ocean.
I think only one place would come through on land, and that is on a tiny island, in the afor mentioned ocean.

It was a glorious fantasy. I daydreamed and tried for a while on it. I loved those hats and the music! Then it became a cave! This is a beautiful question! The playful imagination of childhood. It doesn't seem like kids today are encouraged to play with their imaginations. Do you remember being scolded for playing with your imagination or daydreaming? It happened to me all the time as a child. Imaginative play is good for everyone. Fantasy is such a glorious release and satisfaction of inner most desires and dreams.
Thanks for the reminder.
Take care.

I am over the same place as Dune in the world and agree with her. I can add you will miss Australia as well.
Seafloor Indian ocean is your antipodes.
