the same happened with me once ya Salah, it was my cousin's engagement party and the bride's father was the owner of the place, he distributed hash among guests (ta7yya lel 3ersan).
when my father saw this we left immediately. After a couple of months i knew my cousin broke up with his bride coz her sister bit her with a knife for being jealous from her. ta7'ayal?
lucky my cousin too :)

i was in a hotel in cyprus. i saw a big gathering around the swimming pool.i saw the bridegroom standing in his best attire , but next to him was a girl dressed casually. the guests were greeting them . i felt that something was odd.
on asking, i knew that the real bride was taken to the hospital to deliver her baby , and her sister replaced her in the party.
i was shocked, but got to know something in the culture of cypriots.
they are so eager to have a big population. so when a man proposes to a girl and he is accepted, they get tied in the church by something like katb el kitab.the man moves to the house of the girl's family and is practically married to her.
the final step is made when the girl gets pregnant. if she doesnt , most probably they would get separated .the father of the girl gets an apartment for her to live in.women there live in their own apts.
if the father is well off, this happens quickly and the wedding party takes place.if he has limited means, the girl may be pregnant and too big in the wedding party.
in this case, it took the father too long. the baby came on the wedding day.but everybody was happy .

wedding.
1.on the beach in the Caribbean, it was stunning the bride and groom wore shorts and flip-flops.
2. on the beach in sri lanka with elephant for the couple to take them away after wards. the bride wore a full white dress.
both were lovely and i really enjoyed them both,
more usually here in England the wedding itself takes place in a church after which we go to a hotel or historical house for the reception which is normally a meal with alcohol of course. we have no problem with it in moderation, usually champagne and or wine not whisky unless its scotland, though i have been to weddings with in England with no alcohol.
i cant imagine going to a wedding where hash is handed out its illegal here or at least ts supposed to be.
