Well, if you're in America, the first thing you need to do is contact your county court. They can give you guidance on the procedures. If family services is already involved, your social worker should be able to tell you. You almost certainly have to be eighteen yourself, and it helps if your sister is doing well in school, at home, etc. Good luck with this, and family services will likely investigate to make sure you can provide her with a stable home, etc. Good luck and God bless you for taking on this responsibility. Also, Legal Aid will usually help in cases like this if you can't afford an attorney, and it always helps to have an attorney.
