J.K.Rowling announced when she was signing books. Recently I think! Somebody asked about Dumbledore's relationship and she just outright said that he used to like Grindelwald. He's gay!!!Big news, eh? There's gonna be LOTS of fanfiction about this! :)

I'm not making fun of him? I don't dislike gay people. It's ok wif me. Just wanted HP fans to know if they already didn't. Peace! ^@^

Not friends! Definitely not friends! J.K. said he like-liked Grindelwald. So it was a great shock to him after everything that happened. And he never got around to getting married. :C

I think she meant that they used to be friends. Although him and Snape had a deep connection :D.

With that ill-fated statement, J. K. Rowling destroyed the complete innocence of the HP series.

Outing Dumbledore was irrelevant and insensitive on her part.

Is she so miserable that she wants everyone else to be in the gutter with her?

What was the point of telling the world that Dumbledore was gay? Her books are supposed to be for children. So what gives her the right to impose her views on such young minds?

I would not read anything else written by her if she gave me the books herself.

And I won't be seeing the other movies.

Until the book-buying community says enough already, J. K. Rowling will continue to reveal shocking tidbits about her HP characters.

Well, it sort of makes sense, I mean Dumbledore is a kind person for the most part, definitely capable of, loving someone. I had always wondered why Dumbledore never "hooked up" with anyone......HOWEVER I disagree with what she did. Harry Potter although loved by many adults is primarily children's novels so, it makes things some what awkward for the parents of the kids reading the books. Even if he was always gay in her own mind she should have kept it to herself, I mean why not leave it to the fans to speculate on it endlessly? There is already tons of "slash" fanfics out there. Lots of people had that theory anyway. It kind of dose feel, as if she said this now just for publicity.

I believe that when JK Rowling said that Dumbledore used to like Grindelwald, she most probably meant that in terms of friendship. Maybe the wrong words just came out. Who knows. Anyway, if she really intended for him to be gay, who cares?

It's midight here and I just read the Yahoo article about Rowling's interview in New York where she stated that Dumbledore is gay. I don't care, but as Rowling herself stated, "No one likes my books..." (the AP writer assumed she meant the Christians who think the books promote witchcraft) and JK went on to say "and here's one more reason."

I doubt I have every letter in place on the quote, but that's the gist of it. Even the picture that accompanied the article made me worry a bit... she looked so, well-- suddenly Hollywood.

All of this is okay in general, and an author can do as she wishes with her characters, but to me this smells of a publicity maneuver, and I, for one, don't like it a bit. I can't believe that it will help to "further tolerance," as she said... I think it's spelled f-u-r-o-r. And 's-e-e m-e n-o-w.'

It's what I call 'over the top,' and could well hurt many involved people, and gays are not the least of them. Sure wish she hadn't pulled such a ridiculous stunt.

I think she was smart.

Being gay is in fact one of the hardest things people have to deal with. My best friend's sister is a lesbian, and she has to hide it from her parents because they've said if she is they'll throw her out of the house and cut her off finanically. She's only 16, maybe still 15 (I don't see her on a regular basis so I don't know). To make this great man gay is probably one of the best ways to show people it is ok and it does have to be dealt with on a personal level before you can be a confident, strong person.

Obviously I am completely okay with this. :)
