So many great sites and ideas around... narrow down your search or you'll do your head in.

Decide what style of names you like (I love Celtic names and they suit my maiden name - but don't work with my married name, so they are gone). We went for literary & astronomical names - reflect our interests and we also chose based on meaning.

Look for names people are familiar with, but few have - truly "unique" names date very quickly and IMO create difficulties that real, but less popular names, do not.

Steer clear of surnames, and I also think boys names should be left for the boys - I wouldn't feel great with a girl in my son's class with the same name as him!

Hope you find the name which is perfect for your child. Oh, and do yourself a favour - tell NOBODY what you are choosing; not your best friend, not your mum, and not stranger on the net. No need to hear the criticisms - and few people will be critical to your face once the beautiful baby is born and named.

Best of luck!

Boy- Bentley, Jye, Gryfydd(w), Aldwynn(w),Cyradwynn(w), Banjo, Errol, Eamon, Zander, Xavier.
Girl-Ciel, Ianthe, Zanthe, Aspynn(w).
(w)= welsh names.
My favs are 1st and think Bentley Jye sounds gorgeous. It could also be combined to make Benjy if your hubby likes more conventional names.
You've got to keep nick-names in mind, like it or lump it, your childs name WILL get shortened by school friends.
The name needs to flow with your surname as well. I personally don't like double letter initials eg D.D. or names with common sounds. eg.Carol Mc Clark-too many Cs. And there needs to be an obvious break between 1st and surnames...eg Tom Morris to me just sounds like tomorris. Don't like it!
P.S sorry to any Carol McClarks or Tom Morris' out there!

Do research into your family tree and see what names you can find. You can probably find some really beautiful and unique ones if you go back far enough.
