The yankees won't be cursed for 86 years. George and sons would never let that happen.
Personally, I think we should try. Let's build talent from the farm system and make another Gehrig, Jeter, Whitey Ford or Dimaggio. I'm excited about Phil Hughes and Joba.
About the reference to 86 years, Torre would never go for a job with the red Sox. And they Yankees haven't sold him or fired him, Torre became a free agent and turned down their offer. There is no paradox between this and the 1918.

No my friend this started after they let Don Zimmer go and the Baseball gods have spoken all they did was put gas on the fire with Torre, Also they lost there way when they let Mel Stottlemyer go and never found replacements for Paul O'Neil and Scott Brouchus it has become 1982 all over again! The King is dead long live the King, Oh yea I have a very nice shovel that I have been waiting to use I am going to love throwing dirt on the Yankees grave!

Ummmm, no. The Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees so the Sox owner could finance a musical and the game of baseball was changed forever. The Yankees just decided to go in a different direction next year. It might be the wrong move on their part, but in no way will it change the way people see the game. The entire game does not revolve around the New York Yankees. Get over yourselves!!!!

No matter who the Yankees hire as manager, the team will still be a team that will produce many wins & will be a contender for division & wild card, so Yankee fans have nothing to worry about next year.

In 1918 Boston won the championship.
Where's the analogy?

since george steinbrenner is no longer the guy in charge, going by reports, the sons will mess this franchise up and this is just step number one... this is the beginning of the end for a while for the yankees

Chipmaker is right. Aren't you confusing 1918 with 1920? Even then, I fail to see the analogy. Add comments -- exactly WHAT are you referring to?

i dont think they did the same thing as in 1918 but i think they definitely made a mistake and they may lose a few of their players with torre as well (rivera, rodriguez, posada) so its for sure looking kinda gloomy for next year..

The Red Sox did nothing like this in 1918. But I hope this only prolongs the losing streak the spankees have in the future.
