Go for the 60 Gig if you can find one and down the road when you have more money you can replace the internal hard drive with one of even greater capacity. The PS3 uses standard Laptop harddrives which are currently available in capacities up to 250 GB...

I think that I read somewhere that the main difference is in backwards compatibility. The 60GB version uses hardware for backwards compatibility and the 80GB uses software, in that case the 60GB version would surely work with all the current PS 2 games on the market where the software might have to be updated for the game to work on the 80GB version.

initially, siyrah is right and megaman is regrettably flawed. The 60gb is greater appropriate than the 80gb while it includes enjoying PS2 video games (even regardless of the undeniable fact that the 80gb gets greater appropriate with each and every replace). The 80gb will play maximum PS2 video games, so i would not worry looking all over the information superhighway for a 60gb (it relatively is been discontinued and you will in no way stumble on a clean one in a retail save). The 80gb will maximum in all probability play all your sought after PS2 video games, and common titles will receive greater appropriate compatibility with updates. in case you easily ought to have all your PS2 video games play then choose for the 60gb. you're starting to be one interest that isn't artwork on your finished library. in case you fairly do no longer care approximately PS2 video games you additionally can get the 40gb. This version, regardless of the undeniable fact that, won't play any PS2 video games (yet is $a hundred greater inexpensive). So make constructive your strategies is desperate on in no way enjoying a PS2 call on the PS3 before you get the 40gb. All ps3 consoles will play PS3 video games and bluray movies an identical, so no console is easily "greater appropriate" (except you're purely speaking PS2 compatibility). The puzzling force sizes are additionally fantastically meaningless on the grounds which you are able to constantly improve in case you like a bigger one. maximum 5400rpm SATA pc puzzling drives will replace the accepted PS3 force.
