love or darling.
i used to be in the police force in the south of England and calling someone love is a kind of London term of endearment that many people use even to strangers, especially when it comes from older people
when you come across someone who is in trouble they are often quite upset and even hysterical and the first thing you need to try and do is calm them down. the term love or darling often acts as something normal and makes them calm when you dont know their name. so i got into the habit of calling everyone love. i do it now and dont even realize i am doing it . in England most people just accept it, but i do get some funny looks sometimes if i use it in Egypt. he he
ohhh forgot the other half of the question, some of my friends call me sabby, but i hate it!

It has to be 'Sweetie" pronounced "Shweedee. I never said it until I came to live here in Egypt.
My husband calls me by that "pet name" and somehow I have caught it from him!
Any day now I expect it to slip out when I am being attended to in a shop or have a rather embarrassed colleague look at me questioningly, thinking"What on earth does she mean by saying that to me?"
So, that is my favourite term of endearment,Sweetie!

i'm not always sincere, lol its something hard for me when i am with someone face to face, i like to call my friends names like habla...but they understand, as for me i have many friends but only one can make me smile even in my worst moods, and its when they call me useless, i know its a mean name but it has a funny story behind it thats why i always smile when i'm called useless...

Lately, i have been called "Nice" and "3asoula", which is strange to me coz i never thought of myself as that but rather as "naughty" and "sha2iya", now that puts a smile on my face.

a friend calls me Tootsie Wootsy and i call him my Pookie Bear and no matter what mood we are in if we hear thoes names we smile :)

i call my friends either their nicknames or habebty and habebt alby,nowadays i always say ya wezza,i dunno why :)
