No, the assistance france provided to the Continital Congress was crucial in the success of the American Rovolution. It is debateable how well the Americans would have managed without the assistance of France. The funds, loans, munitions, & clothing influenced the Americans ability to fight the war. The French fleet and French Army played a far lesser role, the French commanders were very reluctent in directly confronting the British and they sought avoidance whenever possible not wishing to risk battle. Were it not for the blunder of Howe to send the British fleet to New York and leave Cornwallis unsupported and vunerable in Virginia the French would not have ventured battle.
So the formation of the US was not unassisted, by the reason of french support was not for the benifit of the US, Britian had expelled France for Canada, and France was wanting back in. They felt the weaking of the British presence in America would better there chances for a return.

No, France was quite important in helping during the Revolutionary War, probably more out of antipathy for the English than love for Americans and almost came to war with the U.S. shortly afterward. It's certainly the last time the French did anything for America.

Individuals ( like Kosciusko from Poland, von Steuben from Prussia ) came from other countries to help.

It is generally accepted that we would not have won the Revolutionary War without the support of France. France primarily supported the Revolution because of enmity with England.
