I knew about the dog thing, just didnt know she took time off

Yes, they announced she took the day off. She was evidently genuinely upset about the situation...getting letters, jokes about it, etc.
I think what was kind of ignored was that this animal group is using it's power...not it's concern for the animal.
My daughters kids wanted to get a dog and went to the SPCA group and were told that they would have to do this...sign a contract, have their home inspected...not just once, but periodically...and my daughter thought "what right do they have to do that?"...so she just went and found a dog another way at an animal shelter.
These private groups are doing this for money (they get more each time they get the animal back), and for power and control invading other people's homes and lives. Ellen's situation is a good example. She only wanted for the animal to have a good home....the group wanted power and control.
I think she was genuinely upset....but I wish someone had addressed more that this group was over-stepping just caring about the animal. They were criticized, and rightly so.
The answer is no one should use these groups....find a private party to get an animal from. It is your life, and your choice.

i'm guessing the attorneys have been given nerve-racking and asked her to take a deep breathe for some days at the same time as issues cooled off. curiously Iggy has been accompanied returned, so if Ellen is authentic to her be conscious she won't say something greater with regard to the challenge. New shows will resume Monday or Tuesday.

The news reported that she was taking extra time because of the dog situation. I think that is a stupid reason just like the most ignorant of her fan base sending death threats to the Moms and Mutts organization.
I realize people are attached to their pets...(I have 4 and love them dearly) BUT the fact remains, IF you adopt a pet from any rescue facility, you sign a contract and you make a deal to have the pet neutered/spayed etc.
I didn't know there were any organizations that prohibited you from gifting a pet to another family, but I understand why they would do that especially if the pet has been rescued.
The bottom line is, it's a dog and I think too much attention has been paid to this subject already and after Ellen herself said she wouldn't acknowledge this subject again, her cancelling her show over it does nothing but bring attention to it.

She took time off because (in my opinion) I think she realized she went overboard on the dog thing and things got way out of hand. The agency received death threats, harassing phone calls and emails. The version that Ellen gave about the dog was missing a lot of pertinent details; such as the girls had the dog only 2 weeks, when they went to take the dog TMZ "happened" to be there to film the whole thing. The hairdressers family apparantly did not want to fill out paperwork etc....
In my opinion Ellen came across as another spoiled celebrity who thinks she does not have to follow rules like everyone else. She thinks because of who she is she could just get the agency to accept what she did without them enforcing their rules and guidelines on pet adoptions.

I don't watch her show, but saw on CNN this morning that they had her take some time off because of the on-air meltdown she had a few days ago about the dog she gave away, but that the place she got it from took it back because she broke whatever agreement she had with them. After her breakdown on air, the business started getting death threats.

I noticed that today too, that was weird. Usually when they say they are putting someone new on the show it isn't a rerrun, but i guess it was today. I was really sad, i am a big ELLEN fan.
