All of his movies are bad yet everyone looks forward to his movies. Why? Why do studios even bother to make his movies anymore? I don't get it.

I can't stand American Pie or Dumb and Dumber. I couldn't take more than ten minutes of each movie. I like movies like the Color Purple and Forrest Gump.

Money.
He fills seats, so they keep making em. I'm not a big fan of his. I liked his first few plays but then everything seemed formulaic, preachy and too easily resolved in the last 20 minutes. But consider this... he fronted about 50% of the money for the first film which turned a huge profit. Three or four movies later, the studio realized they were appealing to a previously ignored demographic (Black, 25 and up, mostly church going/fans of the previous plays).
If you look at the numbers, he turned more of a profit (percentage-wise) than Superman Returns.

"Diary of a Mad Black Woman" has a stage version and the theatrical version, which had a special edition released. He also wrote "Woman Thou Art Loosed".
I think the movie is funny, and the worst thing you can say about the type of movie he makes have Christian themes, writes about everyday Black American life in the south (most of his target audience started out that way but now it's pretty mainstream), they're fairly (but not completely, Madea does shoot things up and there are some violent themes) clean fare, but his own life story of being a victim of child abuse (a recurring theme in the shows are abuse-related) and living in a car, to taking every penny he had and put it into his own show.. and he's going to make over 100 Mil. If TV and movie fails, he'll keep writing, producing and starring in stage shows.

Using IMDb's rating system is a flawed way of judging a film.
Since anyone with a finger can vote, many vote against films they haven't seen just to put them down and lower their rating.
IE: Many of Mel Gibson films' ratings dropped after his arrest and spouting of anti-semetic rants. Angelina Jolies' film ratings dropped on IMDb after the brad pitt/ Jen aniston debacle. It makes no sense, but people are lame and don't use always vote on merit on IMDb. There, it's more of a social commentary.
In fact- it's like using "myspace movies" rankings from their members to decide if a film is good. if we listened to them, Adam Sandler would be an Oscar Winner.
Tyler Perry is a black man who makes films that are very successful in the black community. There are many who would vote against that. However, as a white guy, even I am amazed at his writing humor and direction.
Try using a reputable place like "Rotten Tomatoes" that at least tries to use ratings from ACTUAL reviewers, not petty regular folk with an axe to grind.
Otherwise, using imdb as your only benchmark undercuts your arguement that his films aren't successful.
Further, when his movies have grossed what his films have, I don't think you can call his films bad.
Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they are bad.
And, yes, studios love his films.
He is hotly sought after in Hollywood because his stuff has HUGE profit margins- made for very little and yet grosses huge $$.
I also find it intersting you neglect to mention his latest is the #1 movie in the country.
Hey, I hate Adam Sandler, and will never see any of his films, but the man draws eyeballs and puts asses in the seats. Studios LOVE that, even if you or I don't.
Same goes for Tyler Perry.
He has a formula, and like Adam Sandler, his films are critic proof because they draw.

First of all his movies are only bad to people who can't relate to them. But for those of us who understand his messages and have lived there struggle, his movies are motivating, spiritual, uplifting, and they help alot of people to search for something in themselves that without some inspiration and understanding about what they're going through in life, they aren't alone and that there are positive ways to handle adversity. And plus being that his movies are 99% about his own race of people alot of the critics aren't happy with black movies unless all the women are Hoes and Bitches and the men are Pimps and Gangsters. Maybe you should try to only watch films like Dumb and Dumber, any movie with Will Ferrel,Adam Sandler,Jim Carey, or that classic American Pie.

Maybe you are the kind of person who prefers to watch movies that is almost fantasy. When the things we see in the movies or television is close to reality, we don't like it. I like his movies. maybe you are not just a fan.
