In case you are looking for house-hold servant then the very first thing you should do is to first check the local police verification & identity card issued by the police authorities on the basis of this verification of the number of servants you have called for interview. Secondly verify with their past employers about their conduct & reason for discontinuity of their service with them. Based on this verification choose the best one you find most suitable for your type of job.

As a rule, you employee them on trial bases but even before that you need to follow certain procedures.

They are simple:

Use services of bonded employment agency, and do a background check by a competent private eye.

Install camera to monitor activities while the keeper is alone in the house.

Finding is the first step but retaining requires more work, and constant adjustments.

Please:

Do not tempt the house keeper by leaving value ables unattended or exposed, keep it in a safe locked up. Treat them right, this create and obligatory bond, be polite, use words like please, thank you sorry, granted they are paid to perform their duty, but little curtsy goes long way toward, building their loyalty to you. But do gently correct them in case of the mistakes. Make sure they understand your instructions, the instructions must be precise and very clear and most important they must be legal and accomplice able. Allow time for training, and getting use to your house.

Pay the person on time and well and tip them occasionally. Provide suitable clothing, if you find them waring unsuitable stuff.

Have major items and duties in writing (almost all).

Include general clauses to cover any additional items.

You do have few other very good answers, so do that also.

um maybe try being a little respectful - try housekeeper or maid - if you can find a "servant" i'd be VERY surprised.
