It just doesn't make sense. A man and a woman can get married, but for two people of the same sex to get married, it's illeagal? Why? I mean, sure, most people use the Bible as a reason. But if people just put down that damn bible for a bit, do they have any good reason? If two people are in love, why not get married? I'm not saying people HAVE to, but if they want to, they shouldn't be denied that. Aren't all men created equal? If so, shouldn't a gay man or woman be allowed the same rights as a hedrosexual? For someone to get married to someone of the same sex isn't harming anyone. It's not like they're murdering people.
A lot of people (mainly guys) say that they don't like gay people becuz they don't want to be hit on. Okay, people, if you're being hit on by someone gay, you probably look the part. jk. no but, that reason SUCKS. plus, unleess youre in a gay bar, its not too likely. so can we not create a new generation where homophobia is low and uncommon?

Had to vent. sry.

The reason its necessary, you ask? It's not NECESSARY, per say. But if a man and a woman want to get married, everyones like yay. And theres like no discrimination. But if a man and a man or two women fall in love and want to get married, they aren't treated the same. I'm just saying we should allow gay marriage so that people can marry who they love.

The sad thing is, most people use their own whacked up system of what they call "morals" and/or hide behind the Bible to state that homosexuality is wrong. The problem with that argument is that our U.S. Constitution makes no remedy for religion. None. A marriage certificate is a legal document wherein two adults enter. States don't recognize same-sex unions ONLY because there is a section for the woman and the man. This is unconstitutional. Marriage, in the eyes of the law, is simply a union between two people. A partnership. A partnership that is 50/50, solely based on economics and tax provisions.

My grandmother's generation grappled with marriage between two people that involved different religions. My parents' generation had to deal with overcoming interracial marriage. This is our hurdle to overcome. I think that same-sex marriage should be permitted by every State. I'm not homosexual, but I believe in equal rights for all, per the Constitution.

I hope that day will come whenever two people that really loves each other can marry. And you're right, people have to hide behind the bible because they have no legit arguement to denounce it. Whenever people says it's in the bible or it will destroy the sancity of marriage between a man and a woman or other meaningless arguements, people just don't care for anything that is different than what they are. This will change just like inter racial or inter religious marriages. The only these marriages changed are the divorce rates and you can be sure the divorce rates will change when gay marriages will be made legal.

The main reason is the bible. But, if you've read the bible, it says a lot of things are "sins" [eating shellfish, wearing 2 diff. types of materials, etc.]

I just think people shouldnt call it marriage, because i guess it has a religious meaning. I think gay couples should have the same rights as straight couples because to be legally married, you have to go through the court system, which from my understandings, have nothing to do with the church. And its just the right thing to do....

I love it when anti-gay rights people say it will "Harm the American family". But...they never say in what ways

And homophobic people are just hateful bigots.

I think the younger generation isnt as homophobic as past generations. Yes, there are some people who are homophobic, but there are also people who still hate blacks. There's always going to be hate. But the newer generation doesnt care, and is also realizing that gay people are just people who need to be treated fairly!

Sorry for the long response! (-:

What would be the point of same sex couples being married?

The question isn't why it's wrong. The question is why would it be right and why would it be necessary.
