Not all Mexicans, but there are indigenous tribes that remain in Mexico. 62 of them, in fact. With a total population of 12 million.

This is about five times the Native American population of the U.S., and accounts for more than 10% of the Mexican population. Additionally, about 30% of the Mexican population are at least partly indigenous. Probably even more have some native ancestry.

Since Mexico is part of North America, these people are native Americans. Just as the Canadian Indians, or "First Nations People" are.

They say this because they are Native to the Americas. Mexicans are native to North America. Before Canada, the U.S., and Mexico existed many tribes occupied North America. Even though the Maya and Aztec empire's were located in the southern part of Mexico, Mexico is in North America....therefore Mexicans are native to North America. Also, let's not forget that some parts of the southwest were once Mexican territory. Also, not all Mexicans are mixed...and even if we are, we are still native to North America, no matter what anyone says, because in our blood runs native American blood. The blood of that group of people that came to the America's a long time ago and settled from Alaska to Brazil runs in our veins. Sorry haters!

The land we now call Mexico was inhabited by Indian tribes before the invaders came.

Many Mexicans carry that native blood - just as many in our own country do.

There are still groups of Indians residing in the country of Mexico, relatively untouched by European cultures.

If you read a book now and then, you would know this.

Many of them are native, especially in large parts of California and Texas -- Mexicans were driven/bought off like folks called "native Americans" -- Their lobby was weaker so they didn't get reparations or reservations. "Remember the Alamo"? --- it was on Mexican property.

Because some of them are decedents of tribes of that region...which we consider part of the Americas.

Granted however, such claims should not necessarily give people easy access to cross borders illegally...they are decedents of tribes there, not here unless their people traditionally lived around the area of the border.

Because they are mostly Mongoloid Amerindian. However, with Spanish/European (30%) and West African/New Guinean (15%) admixture. Usually they have Amerindian features, but some have Caucasian-looking, and sometimes mild ******* traits. Also, there's a significant Jewish element, with definitely some who look rather Jewish as well.
