Take note that Dubya, Texas cowboy wannabee, did not want to reform social security while in college. He wanted to elminate it like plenty of other cons do.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."

What a great quote about his stand on Social Security.
Obviously, he would be astonished to see that a stupid Texas millionaire is in the White House and that his stated goal has been to do away with our current Social Security system.

I would add that since Eisenhower warned us against "the military industrial complex" I do not think he would be pleased with today's Republican Party which supports unlimited spending on the military. I think he would be appalled by our "preventive war" in Iraq. He would have been appalled by the lack of planning that preceded that war. I think he would be ashamed of the GOP.

like it or no longer the two events have replaced and not for the greater useful i'm afraid. The Democrat party isn't the party that my father knew its no longer even an identical party that I joined whilst i became into sufficiently previous to vote.they are turning out to be to be the party of extreme taxes and bureaucratic administration. The Republican party stood for small government, much less government spending and much less interference interior the lives of the voters and we are able to make certain the place we are to-day , the biggest government ever and spending is out of sight. i do no longer think of Dwight Eisenhower or John Kennedy could very proud of their events to-day.
