Records Tom Brady is on a pace to beat this season:

Single season QB rating

Single season touchdown passes thrown

NFL MVP

First undefeated 16 game season

Here's the record he could win in the next 2 years:

First quarterback to win 5 superbowls

If the Pats win the superbowl, and repeat next year, why can't you say Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time?

Keve,
I looked up slinging Sammy Baugh. I have to agree, I don't think Tom Brady has a good shot at equalling Sammy's achievement of leading the league in Passing, Punting, and Interceptions, all in the same year. I read about him here:

What a player! Even if Tommy achieves all I think he might, Sammy will still deserve his due. Thanks!

Steven,
None of the people you mentioned has won 5 superbowls, which is a premiss of my argument.

Why people keep thinking that Brady will set the record of TD?

He's only having a good start and he said he does not care about the record.

Yes, Brady has 6 games throwing at least 3 TD. When Manning set the record, he threw 3 or more TD from week 5 to week 13 and 4 or more from week 8 to 12. He also had 3 games with 5 TD and one with 6. Brady has thrown 5 TD only once in his entire career.

He does not need to set a record neither, the defense is good enough to keep the score low and the running game will be great once Maroney and Morris are back.

Manning and Marino set a record for TD because their D's sucked and it was the only way to win. Marino did not even have a running game. Brady has both things.

Brady is not even in the same class as Peyton Manning.
Look at each persons career stats.
Sorry, but Brady will NEVER be the quarterback that Manning is, nor will he ever be mentioned in the same breath as the greatest of all time, Johny Unitas.

No, most people would not put him ahead of Joe Montana, John Elway, Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino or Bret Favre.

He is going to have to play in the NFL 10 to 15 years before he is compared to those legends. But he is certainly well on his way to being included in that group as is Peyton Manning.

he will never be universally known as the greatest of all time, because many factors come into play. For 1 rules have changed over the years and some of the older players had to deal with them the way they were. 2 no single player is or will be known as the best QB of all time by everyone, there is too much team pride. I for one don't like him. He is on track to be one of the greats though.

All time? Universally? I don't think that is possible no matter what his stats are when he retires. There will always be arguments for other players in other eras. How can you rate him better than Montana, Steve Young, Marino, Favre, Bradshaw, Unitas, Namath, Otto Graham...the list goes on.

There will never be a "universally" recognized greatest QB of all time!

You need to wait until he retires to say that. Right now it is not clear cut, nor will it be in 2 years. When he retires, there should be no question. It's like rating a book before its finished.

I'm a huge fan of Tom Brady's. As consistently outstanding as he is, I think that's a title he is worthy and deserving of.

One MVP is not a record but yes, if he kept up current pace you would have to place him at the top.

He's going to get hurt this year. Career ending. He;s going to try and come back but just play awful and tarnish everything he's done. He will then mouth off and people will lose respect for him. Then he will kill himself.
