Ok.. so this person works a full time job. Says she is mentally disabled. Lives in Low income housing paying little rent. And has a room mate who also works a fulltime job, and splits the expenses. The extent of her mental illness is threatening to kill herself when things don't go as she wants. She is a "Cutter" but never goes beyond superficial wounding.

Not necessarily. If a person is working full time, at MINIMUM WAGE, they wouldn't be able to afford very much. Having the disability income if a person qualifies for it can be a real help to fill in the gap between what the person gets in their salary and what they need to survive. Also, there is a very thorough screening process before a person can qualify for disability income. It is highly unlikely that somebody could slip through the cracks because of the amount of testing and confirming disabled status that goes on before a person can get disability income.

I took a disability retirement from the Feds, and I can legally work full time if I make less than I did when I retired. I know alot of people who do work, but come in under the guidlines. I also know people who are drawing VA disability, and are allowed to work.

Oh, yes! And insurance fraud is nothing to be taken lightly.
Ins co's are unmerciful in prosecuting it.This is especially true in Workman's comp cases.

If you are receiving money that is intended to tide you over because you can't work, and you are working but don't report it, yes indeed.
