That won't happen -- simply because the Yankees were so disrespectful to Torre that at this point he wouldn't go back even if they wanted him to.
I have long disliked the Yankees, but nonetheless recognized the fact that Torre was high-class all the way. He deserved much better than the way the Yankees treated him.

I don't think he'll ever sign with the Yankees again. After they've treated him recently. They have insulted him and he has probably lost respect of the Yankees ball club and is ready to manage for another team now. So I think Torre's era as a yankee manager is over. I too think next season the yankees will struggle and will beg for him to comeback and Torre would be laughing at them. The yankee management has caused this upon themselves.

I hope you're right about the Yankees being in last place at the All-Star break, but Steinbrenner and Torre are both too proud to go back on this one. Billy Martin was hired something like five times, but he was an unstable drunk and a very different character from Torre.

Never, they did it on purpose because they knew the answer. It was an insult to Joe Torre and they were aware of it. George Steinbrenner (owner) did not want to fire him because the fans would hate him, so he was smart about it and found a different way to kick him out. By cutting his pay check, i have a lot of respect for Joe Torre for not taking the job. Joe has to much class that even if they offer him the job for twice the money, he won't take it.

Joe Torre will have another job by then and since he does not need the Yankees' money he will not be back. Too classy a guy and a man of principle I would like to believe.

NYY is the last team Torre will go to, after the way they insulted him with a "1-year incentive-laden" deal.
He can find job with any team. Just not the Yankees.

We will really see about the Yankees without Joe Torre!
I bet they go down next year!
They will want Joe back by Midseason next year!
