hmmm...well idon't know for sure,but i read a book in the 70's that i think it said it was John Brodie,who was the subject of a bidding war between the NFL and the AFL that contributed to the merger of the 2 leagues.anybody that can confirm or deny that?

In 1981, my cousin- Joe Ferguson was the fith highest paid at $396,000 per year. The highest was about $550,000. I would assume that it was someone from the mid to late 80's. My guess would be Montana or Marino.
