I unfortunately haven't seen the live action french films.

No doubt Asterix. More European, more witty, very original and unique with its refferences to History.
After all Far West is a topic of thousands of refferences, half the Hollywood and Cinecitta' production as well.

As a European I vote dor Asterix. Druids, Gaulls, Vergigentorix, Julius Caecar, Cleopatra, and the all the ancient nations of Europe involved.
