I RECIEVED A BILL FOR NON PAYMENT A DISCONNETION NOTICE FOR NONPAYMENT BUT I DID PAY I WROTE A CHECK AND GOT A RECIET...SO THEY WANT ME TO LOOK FOR THE CHECK NUMBER ISNT THAT THIER JOB...I DONT HAVE THE CHECK NUMBER BUT I HAVE THE RECIET THEY DONT WANT THE RECIET SO WHAT CAN I DO?

get a copy of the cashed check from the bank

If you wrote the check, then you should very easily be able to find the number. Look in your check book, on your statements, or online. Most receipts that involved a payment by check will have the check number on them as well.

Go down with the receipt and talk to someone in person .
What if you paid by cash ? No check # . . .
Besides , check number means nothing , it could have bounced or never been received .
Someone is confused about the receipt .
GO Down In Person .

I put check # on all my receipts its a good habit to get into.Call the bank they can help you but i am not sure how you could not know what the check # was??

they actually they cant look up check numbers. you need to call your bank and ask them to send you the statement for the month you made the payment on. or just go online and look for the checks that have gone thru.

look online through your bank or go to the bank and they can look it up. you have the receipt so you know the amount and date. I can view all of my checks online through my online statements.
