My best friend has been married for 35 years and her and her husband havn't had sex AT ALL for the last 20 years. She wants it but he tells her that there is more to marriage than just sex.
She thinks he is getting it elsewhere.

There are a lot of factors at play here.

My parents still do after (get ready for this) nearly 60 years! (they were married in 1948).

I haven't had any with my wife since november 18, 1999.

I doubt he is getting it elsewhere.....perhaps the pilot light has gone out on the stove. Perhaps a trip to the doctor is needed.

This is not common with all couples, my parents were married for 37 years (unfourtunately ended by my father's passing earlier this year) and you could just tell they still had a healthy sex life.

If that's the ONLY clue she has, I personally doubt he’s getting elsewhere, because it’s very unlikely he would be able to hide all the normal clues to an affair for 20 years. Likely he just has NO sex drive (it’s rare, but it does happen), which he should see a doctor about. But I imagine it might be difficult to get him to agree to that.

At his age, there are a number of physical ailments that can deaden desire. It isn't uncommon, nor is it uncommon for a man to be so distressed that he cannot allow himself to try to meet her needs with alternative methods. This is far, far more common at his age than for him to be "getting it elsewhere".

She knows how to write a check; she should find a sex shop and buy herself an adult toy or two and pleasure herself. When she discovers just how to use those items most pleasurably, she can invite hubby to watch and maybe use them on her - but she should not be surprised if he can't handle that emotionally...in which case she goes right on using them, just not around him.

My grandmother's cousin married a guy who always had a low sex drive, even when he was younger, so they didn't have sex often but he still helped fulfill her needs.

Maybe he doesn't want to admit he has a problem like that. That is, after all, a very sensitive issue for a man. Even if he doesn't want it, he should see that she is kept happy because it is a natural body function.

I sure hope I'm able to have it after 35 years. Been 13 years so far with same women, no problems. I hope we both live for 22 more years together.

Some couples have sex all their lives. But if her hubby isnt fulffiling her sex drive she may seeks it somewhere else. Tell him to be very careful
And yes there is more to marriage than sex.
