Not so much holes as loops that aren't closed. In Book 7 she mentioned a trace on Arthur Weasley and never disposed of it. A couple of paragraphs would have done it.

Harry looked at Charlie Weasley. "Your parents have gone into hiding? Do they know there's a Trace on your father?"
"Oh, yes. Dad got warned. They got rid of it weeks ago."

I think JK is writing her follow up Veritaserum (long for appendix) to address as many of them as she can.

It would have been better if all of the back-story and detail were defined and thought through - a - beforehand perhaps?

i was rereading the 7th book last week and i found something that looked weird...in the chapter "king's cross" dumbledore says that he took the cloak from james a few days before he died.which means he probably borrowed the cloak in mid to late october...but lily in her letter to sirius,in which she describes how they spent harry's birthday, said that dumbledore had had his cloak already...we dont know when exactly lily wrote that letter but it seems a bit weird that lily was describing harry's first birthday to sirius 2+ months later.
