Well you already know the answer. You may have to begin at a comm college to go to a bigger school. You have to be in school and that will help you discover what you love to do.It will certainly teach you how to be involved and how to deal with the world around us.I would just die if I had waited longer than I already did to graduate college.I love myself so much more,I am so aware of so much more,I am a better person.Even if you go to 5 different schools to find your niche, you'll learn along the way.If you know what you want to do,take my advice and do something you have an interest in and something you love regardless.Your journey will be amazing. You'll meet so many people. You also become a better person when you try new things, think outside of the box, have alot of different friends, volunteer, donate blood, read, help others, think about others period. When we get stuck in a routine or become cynical, changes likely won't take place within ourselves or in the world around us....good luck!

I get the feeling that you have a good sense of where you want to go; you just need to start going there. So yes, spend less time on MySpace and YouTube (you don't have to give them up altogether, but they are addictive), spend more time looking at a good news source like the NY Times or the Economist or listening to NPR, study more, and do something to help others. The advantage of that last one is that you can put your own traumas into perspective when you start to realize how good you really have it compared to others.

You could teach yourself a random, new word from the dictionary everyday. Aside from the obvious communicative benefits, it makes you feel good inside.

I hope that would indirectly behoove your currently mediocre writing abilities.
