I would hope that most people would have the freedom to be what they want and live how they want, while still acknowleding and adhering to the fact that others have the same right to do so. I know that people are gentically predisposed to have certain physical traits, and in some people there is chromosome malformation and chemical imbalances. But, unless those imbalances are detected, and corrected if possible, the obvious causes will have their effetcts on the indiuvidual. Now, concerning nurture, well, some are smart enough to NOT repeat history, some never believe that they can stop the cycle of wrongdoings and make a better life for themselves than what they have always known. There have been enough cases where people have not let any impairments, physical or mental, stop them from reaching and achieving their goals. Look at Dr. Steven Hawking, dude is totally paralized, but he can still smile, and have children, and realtaionships and utilize his brilliant mind, and communicate with everyone, all without moving a proverbial finger. Amazing people are all around to inspire and mentor us, we just have to recognize them and their efforts and become inspired by their achievenments and stop feeling sorry for ourselves!

Yes people are born with predisposition, it is inherent in the physical condition, however, those are modifiable by objectification of the body, instead of remaining merely subject to it.

The greatest modulator of these dispositions is to learn what is of value, and how to make what you want something in your control solely in favor of what's most helpful universally.

To "need" something you "want" in order to be happy is a slavery to compulsions, from its tenancy to be self contradictory. While to be free is to know what to want, and how to want it - forsaking all else.

"Truth will set you free." and the first truth of self control is you are not your body. If you are just a body then you have no self control, but are merely a product of previous causes.

God bless.

Although people are born with a pre disposition to be who they are, we have a free choise!

For example if you have a family history of drinking problems, you can CHOOSE to avoid indulging.

If you believe God hates divorce, you can CHOOSE to behave in a loving way, (hypocritically if necessary, hypocracy is the most over-rated sin) for the sake of your children, and your family's good name.

For example if you want to cut your wrist, you can CHOOSE to live.

If you believe God demands faithfulness in marriage, you can bring your "urges" home!

For example if you believe God hates the homosexual lifestyle, but you think you are queerish or "bi" you can close you eyes and imagine whatever turns you on.

You get your orgasm as you fullfill God's will, in the "mssionary position" with an appropriate "opposite gender" partner with "compatable body parts".

It can be your choice to do "it" God's way!

You can have your kinky fantasy and do what God commands ... "Go and multiply...or else we'll go extinct!

Predisposed at birth in some cases but not in most.
Consider Helen Keller. I'm almost certain that had I been born blind and deaf I would have withered-away rather than have risen above such handicaps regardless of the people around me. But how can we know such things?

a combi...

but mostly environmental influences is a major factor. The manner you brought up a kid is an important role of who and how they will become.

I think it's a roughly equal combination of genetics and environment.
