I. CANNOT. SLEEP.

I've asked this question so many times before. It's just so hard for me to fall asleep. I've tried relaxing before bed, drinking warm milk, taking a bath....I don't want to try sleeping pills because they're not healthy and I don't want to get addicted (please don't recommend them). I've tried counting sheep, concentrating on my breaths, everything!!! WHAT SHALL I DO? by the way, I'm 14 years old and in high school, and this has been going on for 3 months straight. (My mother won't take me to the doctor b/c she insists that my problem can be solved with a strong will.)

You probably really have something on your mind. If it is a guy forget it at bedtime, he isn't worth losing sleep over, good or bad. Besure to get up at the same time 7 days a week and go to bed at the same time 7 days a week and get you body and system together.

Take a warm shower and eat something that is high in carbs. Don't count sheep or concentrate on your breathing, try not think about anything. It takes me a long time to fall asleep so I wake up early and when I go to bed I don't think of anything. Before I know it I'm waking up for the next day.

Something else that you can try is, if you can is put some soft easy listening music. Something that would really relax you with a pair of head phones on an Ipod or just a stereo. Concentrate on that and see if that helps. Also there is a natural sleeping pill it is not medicine and it is not a chemical. it is like a vitamin and that is melatonin a natural herb that will help you to fall asleep and stay a sleep

Yours may be one of the rare cases and I am not sure if you would be able to grasp and readily accept it(acceptance is more important ).In plain simple words it means that in some people at a certain stage of life/time,when faced with a problem which though has physical manifestations but in reality it's not so, no sooner a plausible/workable remedy is available, the mind itself subverts it and ensures that it fails. That is, deep down we don't want to get rid of the problem but at the same time keep trying various remedies and our mind keeps subverting them.It becomes a cycle of trial and sure failures.Nothing but an acceptance can help us to proceed with a cure.Otherwise, you have tried almost everything which for a person of your age would have worked for sure and a long time back. Therefore, accept it, identify it and then be prepared to deal with it than just thinking about it.Strong will always helps but not when we have a conflict in our mind on the same issue ie keeping a problem alive and trying to find a remedy to cure it,both at the same time.Wish you all the best.

try exercising a few hours before bed. or even just try stretching all of your muscles, one by one, on a regular basis just before you go to bed. it helps. i have trouble sleeping and that's what i do every night. also try listening to meditative music. i love the beach so i bought a cd that is has very mellow music over the sound of waves crashing, but there is music out there made specifcally for sleep aid. if you have something on your mind that is keeping you awake then try to come to terms with it. i think most people go through this periodically throughout their lives ... it will eventually pass.

another thing that works for me sometimes ... and this is weird ... is sleeping the opposite way in the bed ... meaning with your head where the feet usually go. I know it sounds crazy but this has helped me many times in the past.

good luck!

It's just hormones. Go to the drugstore and buy some over the counter USP Progesterone cream, make sure it says "derived FROM yam" or whatever, not just that it "contains" yams. That's the bioidentical form of Progesterone, same as your body makes.

Put 1/4 teaspoon on your legs or arms every 12 hours. You'll be back in good shape within a couple of days, tops.

You might want to exercise in the early evening, 3 - 5 hours before you go to sleep. That might tire you.
You could try searching the net regarding relaxation/meditation and visualization techniques.

When you go to your room, make sure the tv is off. Have a book that has a subject of no interest to you, and start reading it. Make your self read the book, within the first chapter you will be sleep. Make sure you have not drank any pop after supper. Don't go to your room to late.
