I have an ultraViolet water sterilizer for my well water. I recently changed the sterilization bulb. I had the water tested but i had 3 cloraforms in it. I took the unit apart and noticed a glass cylinder was all over Rust. The rust is so bad that the sterilization light could'nt shine through to pureify the water so i replaced it at a cost of $90.00 about what i paid for the sterilization bulb. The Sterilization bulb slides right into this glass cylender.
I would like to know the best way of removeing this rust from my old glass cylender because i will keep it as a spare .
Thanx in advance

I hope you are referring to regular chloroforms and not fecal chloroforms. I would contact the manufacter first to make sure the cleaning this will not damage it in some fashion. If it has a special film on it, You could damge that film and hence it would not work as it was designed.

If that is not the case then try some wink rust remover. It works well on rust stains.

hoppes 9 solvent 30 minute soak accompanied through extreme scrubbing the bore with a complicated plastic brush, patches to get rid of loosened textile and greater scrubbing. if the bore is extremely grimy soak for longer cases and scrub with a bronze brush or copper wool

Try some CLR.
Same stuff used to clean sinks & coffee pots.
