Is one man the dad? Where's the mom, I'm confused on who's who and why they live together. I know they're not partners (the men).

The men (Charlie and Alan) are brothers. The boy (Jake) is Allan's son. Alan and Jake are living with Charlie in his beachhouse. Alan's ex lives separately, but stops by once in a while. Charlie and Alan also have a mother that pops in once in a while, and a housekeeper (Berta).

Charlie Sheen and Jon Crier are brothers on the show. The kid plays Crier's son. the old lady is the mother of Charlie Sheen and Jon Crier and the fat women is the house keeper

The men are brothers, and the child is the nerdy one's son (Charlie Sheen plays the cool one). The ex-wife is sometimes in the picture, but mostly to get money from the nerdy one. There are two older ladies--one is the housekeeper and one is the two men's mother, and she's enough to drive anyone crazy. All the characters are caricatures.

Charlie Sheen's character (Charlie Harper) let his brother Alan and nephew Jake (Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones) move in with him after Alan's divorce.
The elderly lady, Evelyn Harper (Holland Taylor) is their mother.
The ex-wife/mother is on the show periodically. She just isn't a regular character.
You can catch it in syndication on most FOX stations and get caught up rather quickly.

rose is the next door neighbor always lusting after charlie
and berta is their housekeeper
charlie and alan live together because charlie is the successful one making jingles for commericals
and alan is a chiropracter who isnt too successful and also has to pay alimony to his ex-wife

The men are brothers--the one that has the son moved in with his brother because his marrige broke up and he had no where else to go, the old lady is actually the brother's mother
