Van Halen by far. David Lee Roth is/was top 5 frontmen of all time. The chemistry between Dave and Eddie is unmatched by Van Hagar. Sammy looked like Ronald McDonald on the 2004 tour with his yellow pants and red shoes. lol

Great question.
I love Van Halen and Sammy Hagar.
I was a huge fan of The Red Rocker's work with Montrose and His solo career. Standing Hampton is one of my absolute favorite Metal albums of the 80's.
But the man just did not gell with Van Halen for some unknown reason
Van Halen Rules
Sammy Hagar Rules
Van Hagar Sucked
David Lee Roth is THE ONLY person who needs to be singing for Van Halen.
I HATED it when they first got together, Hagar's backing band was TIGHT. Phil "Electric" Chuch..AWESOME Bassist. Now his backup band the Waborita's absolutely suck.
It totally ruined Sammy's career.

Diamond Dave's flamboyance and ego put me off Van Halen in the late 70's. I welcomed Hagar's work with the band big time and saw VH during their "5150" tour.
Years have gone by, the band has faced many victories, defeats and heartaches--and still have shone through. Putting all their differences aside, each seasoned personally by their years as a band--Diamond Dave's return to VH is akin to the Prodigal Son returning---and the band's new bass player also shows some skill.
I'm very interested in seeing VH again with frontman Diamond Dave.

I like Sammy, and there are just some songs that I really can't imagine Dave singing that only Sammy could pull off. I don't know what the deal is/was with VH, but they make good music, well they used to, and they rocked out. But, sadly, I think their time is up. Too much back and forth and baby arguments, makes me dizzy, and makes me want to listen to AC DC instead.

hard question. I grew up listening to more of the songs with roth and liked them. I rarely listened to van halen songs with van hagar in it, but liked the few I found. I think I would rather keep listening to songs with dave since I'm already used to him as vocals.

Well, Van Halen (the band) did their best stuff with David Lee Roth, but I don't like the guy. I like Sammy Hagar much better, but the band wasn't on par with what they had done with Roth when they were with Hagar.
I'm probably the only person who thinks this...... from what I'm aware of, everyone loves Roth.
